We've been to Ilfracombe a few times, but now we have a dog we took it as an opportunity to explore the areas we hadn't done before.
We walked up to the gates, saw you had to pay which was fine. We got to the ticket office, where we paid and the lady explained there was a wddding taking place so we could only visit one of the beaches, no drama.
We wandered through the tunnel, had a sneaky peek at the groom stood at the altar (congratulations to them and wow what a venue!) and proceeded towards the beach.
At this point I should say there was another dog already on the beach, so we continued down.. We got half way across the beach and heard someone shouting at us that we weren't allowed on the beach with dogs! We pointed out there was already a dog there and that we hadn't been told otherwise anywhere on our arrival and the girl just said they're not allowed!!!
We walked back up feeling pretty annoyed that we'd paid to visit and we were now being chucked off. We went past the office, and checked the admissions sign we'd checked on arrival. Nothing a out no dogs. Hubby went back towards the ticket office a d opposite there was a sign saying no dogs, which we never saw as it's behind you!!!
Maybe it'd be more pertinent that something is mentioned on the admissions board, and maybe the person at the ticket office could say dogs aren't allowed. We had no idea and given a dog was already present, we didn't think otherwise.
