Moonlight Cottage
Ranked #3 of 5 Coffee & Tea in Midhurst
Restaurant details
Reviewed 14 July 2017

Moonlight cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the South Down Way and with the owners offering cycle storage and a range of B&B options to suit all budgets this is an ideal stop-off point or, as we did, central point to ride the SDW in both directions over a couple of days.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and the cosy rooms were clean, comfortable and well presented. You can choose what you want for breakfast from a good range of cooked and cold options and all of the food was good quality and delicious.
We look forward to staying again in the future when we plan to hike the SDW - we will ensure this is one of our overnight stops.

We had found it difficult to get accommodation for the third night of our South Downs Way walk. After an email to Moonlight Cottage, we were offered their bunkhouse - which isn't advertised on their website. It's a really comfortable bunkhouse with four single beds, a fridge, microwave and kettle. There was an outside loo and we could access a shower across the road in the Malthouse. Breakfast was fantastic - lots of options to choose from. Not too far from the South Downs Way and an easy walk to an excellent local pub - the Bluebell Inn.

Good points excellent breakfast with fruits, cereals, cooked selection and excellent packed lunch, comfortable bed, wifi, very friendly and courteous, pleasant room decor. But for us it was too small. My bag had to be parked in the ensuite. The ensuite was dusty, bits of spider poop behind the toilet and a mouldy shower mat. The rest was clean. It was not for us as we prefer a 4star place but obviously others think it is cosy and good value. This place is a B and B,with cafe tea room.

If the weather is fine then the garden is good with plenty of bird song. If not its nice inside. Tea is a must with excellent leaf brands from Imperial Teas. Let it brew. We love the sandwiches or ploughmans followed by either home made cakes or scones and home made strawberry jam. Never expensive.
