Owner description: Dominating the skyline for miles around, Stirling Castle is a shining example of Renaissance architecture. Visitors can look out from its high stone walls to the battlefields of Stirling Bridge where great medieval armies clashed to decide the fate of nations. Home to generations of Scottish monarchs including, Mary Queen of Scots, the Castle is an enduring and powerful reminder of our fascinating history.

To be honest I didn't like it there too much. But first the good things: from the outside the castle is really beautiful and the view is amazing, too. The people there were also super friendly and I talked to one man and he knew so much to tell about Scotland and this castle.
Unfortunately the castle itself wasn't that interesting for me. In a few rooms there are small museums now and others a renovated. For me all the atmosphere is gone because of that and the people in costumes didn't make it any better. It seemed more like a theme party for children in harsh words. And for that the entrance is just too expansive

£4 to park and £15 too get in plus £10 for a cold weak hot chocolate and a small coffee plus to small cakes.
Was an interesting place to visit but after going to other castles I certainly would not return.

A lovely Scottish castle that cannot fail to impress. The walk up to it from the centre of Stirling is lovely past old buildings, churches, graveyard & hotels. The view from the castle gates across the city to Bridge of Allan village to the Wallace Monument is breathtaking. Even if you don’t pay to go into the castle I would highly recommend the walk to the walls of it. You can climb the ramparts & visit the castle shop before you decide on admission or tours.

The castle is split in areas where visitors can learn and experience different parts of the castle everyday life in the old days as well as the history and habits of the Scottish royal bloodline. The personnel was very friendly and helpful.

There is also a part of the evolution of the Scottish army through history until the current days!

Definitely recommend it!

I don’t understand how it can be expected to pay £15 for entry per person plus £4 for parking. Prices are too expensive.
