It was good value but after a flood has closed and is for sale now. So, sorry, you've missed the boat.

Was going to stop here for lunch while out on a day's walk. But, when we arrived the place was closed, the blinds were drawn and a big "For Sale" sign displayed outside. So if, like us, you're planning to eat there, check first that it's open!!

Met a friend there for lunch today, a lot of flies and wasps inside. Got stung on my arm and finger. Reported to staff but not interested. Place felt dirty and everywhere very sticky.Had fish and chips which was nice. Wouldn't go again although been many times a few years ago.

We bought a Groupon deal for the Fool's Nook, as we'd always liked the look of the place but had never got around to actually visiting. It was only after buying that the deal that we read the dire reviews, so we were wondering whether we had made a mistake.
All I can say is... don't believe the bad reviews. The decor may be a little old fashioned, but everything is clean (no smell of the damp mentioned by other people), the barman couldn't have been more helpful and the food was excellent.
I will definitely be going back and would heartily recommend the place to anyone else.

We went to The Fool's Nook with a Groupon; I've driven past it for years travelling to & from work and have always wanted to try it as it's so pretty.
We read a few of the reviews in the car on the way there and we're a bit wary, but were instantly welcomed by Scott, the manager. Who, throughout our visit was very attentive but not at all insincere or overbearing.
The pub could do with a lick of paint, but the managers haven't been there long and the decor seems to be fairly high on the 'to do' list.
We had garlic mushrooms and deep fried mozzarella sticks to start. Both were very nice... Especially the mushrooms. The we both had sirloin steak, chips, salad & the best onion rings this side of Christmas. All of it was very good, but the dressing on the salad could have done with a bit more vinegar to balance it. Saying that though, the steak was beautifully cooked and seasoned and was also very tender.
We decided to have a dessert: a trio of miniatures. A double chocolate mousse, vanilla ice cream and two petite fours. To say they were delicious would be a bit like saying Everest is big!
We would definitely go back and would definitely recommend The Fool's Nook.
Between our starter and main course we had an apology for the wait. Ummmmm.... What wait? We had about ten or fifteen minutes. Quite reasonable as the food is cooked to order. I think if people are complaining about that length of time then they must be making a comparison to the customer turnaround timeframe at McDonalds.
