Love being able to go back to the Old Mill. We had a great family gathering last summer when it first opened, enjoying the terrace with great food and local beers. The atmosphere is wonderful, a good mix of the old and the new. The location is beautiful by the Pike River of which we had an excellent view from the terrace with the old mill (Now a museum) in the background. There are picnic tables for people wanting to sit even closer to the river. This last time my sister and I decided to stop there Sunday early afternoon hoping for a nice lunch on the terrace. We were somewhat disappointed to find no small portions of their tasty food and decided not to stay because of it. As we were looking at the menu a family came in hoping for breakfast or brunch and also left because they weren’t hungry enough for the very generous portions offered. I understand people can share, but the option would be nice. Just a suggestion, maybe a Sunday brunch option would be nice. That day, including my sister and I, 9 people didn’t stay.

This is a real hidden gem. We were meeting our family from the states for a nice lunch and we happened upon this place. It was fantastic. The food was spectacular, all locally sourced, and the service was spot on. I had one of the best poutines of my life; it was braised beef, caramelized onions, house gravy with cheese curds...soo good. The wife got the beef burger, mother-in-law the steak frites, and father-in-law salmon burger. All were delicious. Would definitely go again!

Le Old Mill 1849 has been there all my life, and has changed many hands. Many memories shared there. It is so great to see it restored. Plan on many visits. It is a Bistro now and also has rooms . The atmosphere and food is superb. You can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful falls across the way . The service is very friendly. Visit the museum , within walking distance from the Bistro. Piano Bar certain nights. The bar was handmade by a local carpenter. I had the steak and fries, and it was just the way I liked it. Another night had the "special hamburger" . It was huge , will share next time. French Fries are yummy

The Old Mill was a popular hang out in Stanbridge for many years but then was closed and remained that way for a long time. It re-opened on Friday, the 23rd of June under the name Le Old Mill 1849. Out of curiosity I decided to go and have a drink just to see the new renovations. It is absolutely gorgeous, they have managed to keep the look of the old pub while updating it to a modern look that is brighter, cleaner and more welcoming. There is a huge outdoor terrace with views of the river and the old mill of the Missisquoi Museum on the other side.

We sat at the bar and enjoyed beer from local breweries while discussing what was the same and what had changed. The kitchen was not open being a Tuesday night but is supposed to open from Wed. through Sunday.

We took a quick look at the menu and it looks like typical pub fare but made with mostly local ingredients like Kaiser cheese. I can't wait to go back and try some food.

The bartender was kind and attentive although we were the only customers but then was busy as she was having difficulty with the printer for the bills.
