We stayed here during the last week of March, 2012, and were delighted with everything in the Hotel. We were given a 2 bedroomed Apt. overlooking the most magnificent view of Clew Bay, with it's 365 Islands, and in full view of the famous Croagh Patrick Mountain , or the Holy Mountain, as its called, because there are many pilgramages to this site, where people walk barefoot to the summit. ! Quite an endurance test. But, behind the Hotel, there is a terrific new Greenway, which is a walking and cycling track along the bed of the old Railway line to Achill Island. The entire track is 42 kms. but of course we only did some of this. We were blessed with the weather, as Co. Mayo had a mini-heatwave during that last week of March, and we could explore all the blue flag beaches roundabout......Would love to return, and would hope that we would experience another wonderful holiday there.

Room Tip: Any room to the front of the Hotel would have brilliant views, and if needed for a larger family, the 2 bed roomed apartments are great, with a smashing view as well.

We saw an offer for the hotel on pigsback and decided to go for it as it looked gorgeous. The location of the hotel is out of this world, beautiful views and just a short walk away from the water. The Green Way cycle route also just passes at the back and Achill Island is only a short drive away. The rooms were nice but a bit disappointing considering that it is supposedly a luxury hotel. They were small and very basic.
We did not want the room service to come into the room in the morning, so we put out the "Do not disturb" sign before leaving but they came nevertheless so we were annoyed by that. Otherwise the staff was very nice and helpful.
The breakfast was from buffet and was amazing. We had our table in one of the two bay windows and had wonderful views over the sea.
As we had a dinner in the restaurant included in our stay, we booked the time and the bay window table during breakfast as we've been told to book early.
The set menu for the dinner was average, it all looked very fancy, but we were not impressed with the taste. We won't eat in the restaurant again, way to expensive for what you get.
The hotel pub serves bar food to a very reasonable price and has an outdoor sitting area with stunning views, we will eat there for our next visit in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for sea views (rooms out the front), the other rooms have a view of the parking lot.

The hotel offers several packages - I was tempted by the one that included a day's cycle hire (with packed lunch) because it allowed me to sample the Great Western Greenway (one can run, walk, cycle from 1km to 46km in the freshest air). The hotel is perfectly situated with the sea in front and a wonderful Victorian causeway leading across to a beach. Behind it is the Greenway, developed on the site of the old railway line. The views across Clew Bay to the mountains are glorious; the hotel has a staggeringly good restaurant where dinner combines the very best of food with artistic and innovative combinations (and that view again). Try the breakfast yogurts and you'll never be happy with any supermarket pot again. The bar food isn't in the same class at all but it offers popular dishes. The staff are friendly and laid back. The outdoors was so attractive that I didn't have time to sample the pool, the leisure and beauty centres, the outdoor hot tub - they'll be for the next time. I can't wait for the chance to return. There's a golf course just down the road. There are so many plus factors that I can't list them all but suffice to say the programme of events for the week included chef's demos, bridge, local history, trips to local attractions - all included! That's an indication of this hotel's concern for their patrons. If you have small children, keep an eye out for the steps but most over 8s could safely manage around on their own.

Room Tip: Ask for the sea view - that means you get mountains, clouds, boats, stars, tidal movement all together!

Following a wonderful exhilarating cycle from Newport to Mulranny we stopped here for a deserved lunch. The hotel is in a beautiful setting overlooking the bay in well kept grounds and a stunning vista. The entrance to the hotel into the bar was crowded with a wedding party and access was difficult. When we eventually managed to get a table we ordered some standard fare one fish and chips and one salmon with sides of vegetables and potatoes. When the food arrived we were greatly disappointed with the fish in batter being cremated literally hard and chewy with nothing other than the batter barely edible at a push. At this getting staff's attention was difficult with wedding guests queuing for drinks so instead I tasted my partners salmon and gosh it was over cooked and tough so no look there. When preceding to pay I expected to be asked whether everything was ok at least so I could communicate our disappointment alas we departed unsatisfied and would not eat here again. When basic food cannot be served properly cooked with care then I don't wish to sample anything else the hotel may offer.

I stayed at this hotel recently to check it out as a wedding venue - the hotel is gorgeous, the food is amazing, the views but what really makes it is the hotel staff.
In all areas of the hotel you are treated so well its lovely to see and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice getaway.
