This was a mistaken reservation. Our intent was to make a reservation at a place 1/2 mile to the south that used to be called Conch Key cottages..
Well, we we’re surprised when we pulled into this 1950’s “Fish Camp”! This was a last minute reservation for just 3 nights (3 brothers and 9 yr old son. Luckily no wives, because they would have walked right back out as soon as they saw the room). More on the room later.
There were beer bottles lying all over “beach” and rocks surrounding the rocky parking lot that was full of mud holes! The dock or boarded walkways had paddle boards, chairs, trash, old broken fishing poles lying everywhere (see attached pics). The tiki hut out back is in shambles & not a single bar stool or plastic chair matched either in style or color!! (Two broken chaise lounge chairs were lying on their side- not even six feet away from a dumpster where they should be in!)
All of the dock pilings are mismatched as well. Some of the walkways are concrete, old artificial grass or uneven boards. There was a string of landscaping lights strung between the palm trees- only one bulb worked and the other 11 sockets didn’t even have bulbs! Very few guardrails. The place has been painted like an Easter egg- I think it’s whatever needs painting they use whatever paint they get for free or discounted & hire a 10 yr old for the job! That’s no joke! Onto the room; two queen beds (questionable bed stands that were not attached to a headboard) mixed matched dresser & nightstands a small refrigerator with an even smaller microwave sitting on top. A 32” T.V. hanging on the wall & a very dated (1950’s) bathroom.
The manager (Bill?) was handling everything by himself. Checking, provided and delivered exterior towels. He even went out back to help us fuel our boat- which was one positive of having fuel pumps at their dock as well as an on site boat ramp (very narrow between the motel and another building & fence- you will need to be an experienced boater to back down this ramp!)
If you are looking for any type of luxury, look elsewhere. If you HAVE to stay here as a last resort, be prepared & envision a 1950’s fish camp with little to no amenities except; a questionable boat ramp, fuel dock & first come dockage, A.C. That will cool to only 72’ a T.V. Small saltwater pool & a small beach that you will have to clear yourself- but bring your own chair’s because most all theirs are broken!
