We were staying in St Estephe and this place was a 20 mins drive away. The menu was extensive with lots of fish and meat choices. The fries here are to die for. The truffled ravioli, monkfish and pork were also excellent. Service was friendly although slow at times. It was good value given the quality of cooking. We would definitely return if we were visiting the area again.

This little gem of a restaurant was an unexpected bonus on our day touring some world class Chateau's in the Haut-Medoc region of Bordeaux. Located in the picturesque town and wine region of St. Julien, between Margaux and Pauillac, this quaint little restaurant defines high end local dining. It was an elegant yet casual setting, our group of 4 was seated outdoor on the patio where our guide introduced us to the chef / owner of the restaurant and he spent as much time with us as we wanted his attention.

We dined on a 3 course meal that was paired with a Margaux wine that was recommended by the chef, and each course was exquisite. We felt like we were in a Michelin star restaurant, being spoiled with each successive course.

We were even entertained by the chef with an interesting story about why he had ceiling fans hanging outside under the covered patio which just added to the entire experience, which just happened to be on a beautiful and hot mid-afternoon in wine country.

Highly recommended that you visit this restaurant if you have the opportunity
Merci Chef Claude !

We went as part of a wine tour and had a superb meal. The food was excellent, the ambience superb (it helped that it was a beautiful day) and the price very acceptable for the quality (just watch out as your wine bill can escalate very easily!), but you probably should be aware that meals for the French, especially in the countryside, are a leisurely affair. Plan for a good two hours for a delightful lunch with excellent wines, and you'll love it, but if you're on a tight schedule then you probably should look elsewhere.
We had a group which included people with a variety of different dietary needs (dairy-free, no seafood etc) but there were enough options to keep all of us very happy - and create plenty of food envy! Highly recommended if you want to experience some of the local specialities in an unhurried setting.

After a nice journey across the Médoc vineyard, the St Julien restaurant, the Chef and his committed team, welcome you under the soothing shade of the pergola. Tables are nicely arranged around the summer kitchen, where the Chef will grill the lobster or the beautiful piece of beef, using the famous Medoc's vine shoots.
The cuisine is made of fresh seasonal products, nicely and generously (too generously I guess if I account for the number of runs I will have to do to eliminate the beautiful calories). This is worth it. A nice moment that Mauriac could have depicted in his novels. But the awesome cuisine is only available there!
