“Absolutely beautiful”
Reviewed 7 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Vine Gites was a brilliant find for myself and 7 friends who travelled to the area for a friends wedding. We were staying at the guesthouse and the apartment, which were both very well equipped and well kept. Sarah and Patrick were very helpful and accommodating, providing us with fresh home grown tomatoes and cucumber to have with our BBQ, and even offering to drive us to the wedding venue to collect our rental car the morning after. I will certainly recommend Vine Gites to my friends and family in the future.

“Superb gite away from it all”
Reviewed 1 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Myself, my husband, 2 kids (aged 8 and 5) plus my parents and mother in law spent a week here from 11th-18th July. I had booked our first ever Eurocamp holiday at Hourtin Plage (the other side of the Gironde) followed by a second week in Merlot. We spent a wonderful (if cramped!) first week with 7 of us in a mobile home and I was worried that the 2nd week couldn’t match the first. It did and was so totally different to our first week that it felt like we had 2 holidays.
The accommodation was so spacious and homely and also exactly like the pictures on the website. However what the pictures cannot convey is the atmosphere. It is so tranquil and relaxing and all the other guests were friendly but not intrusive. Sarah and Patrick were very welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. The kitchen was well stocked when we arrived with all the essentials and they also brought us fresh tomatoes from their garden one evening.
The kids loved feeding the donkeys and playing in the huge garden on the climbing frame. We also made good use of the pool although the kids did find it a bit cold on the days that weren’t really hot. We had intermittent wifi at Eurocamp so the wifi at Merlot was much appreciated the 2nd week. We also found ourselves playing Boules, Table Tennis and cards late into the evening.
There wasn’t a village within reasonable walking distance so we did need a car to do any shopping or explore the local area however we also enjoyed going for walks and runs in the surrounding countryside. We went into Bordeaux for a day and also into Blaye to celebrate Bastille Day.
Sarah showed us round the guesthouse and apartments before we left and they were as impressive as the gite.
If we were in this area of France again I would definitely stay here again and would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone else.

“Lovely and child friendly place to stay”
Reviewed 1 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We stayed three adults and four children aged 2,5,8 and 15 for a week. The owners are the loveliest people and did everything to make our stay a good experience: Organised cot and push-chair for the baby; toys and bike and helped us with practical things though-out the stay. The play area and pool were perfect for kids.
The four bed rooms are on the upper floor and the stair case is challenging for small children. There is a gate that can be installed if needed. The bedrooms have comfortable beds and the bathrooms are well equipped. The walls and floors are quite thin and you overhear noise and movements in other rooms. There is also a road running close to the house and you hear passing traffic from the bedrooms.
The gite is situated in the countryside and you can have lovely walks in the vineyards. A car is a must as the closest town/village Pugnac with bakery and supermarket is 2 km away. Pugnac is a very sleepy and not very pretty town. Recommend Bourg ( 10 minutes drive) and Blaye ( 20 minutes) which are prettier and have more of a a Bordeaux feel.

“Lovely Gite, helpful friendly owners”
Reviewed 30 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

The gite is 45 minutes away from the centre of bordeaux, which is easily found if you have a hire car. The Gite itself is clean and well laid out, 4 good sized bedrooms and excellent facilities for the young children we had with us (4 under 2's). The only downside was the creaky++ floorboards and leaking shower (which wasn't a huge issue). Otherwise would recommend.

“Just perfect for a young family. Hoping to go back next year.”

An idyllic location in the French countryside. The kids had a ball with all the outdoor play facilities which meant we did too. Our hosts couldn't have been lovelier.
