Villa Carda is a beautifully appointed Tuscan home in the mountains. Our group of 5 couples spent a fantastic week here. There are 6 bedrooms. Each has its own private bath. The kitchen is well stocked. There are plenty of dishes, pans etc. There is an expresso machine as well as a coffee pot for Cafe Americano. Andrea made sure we had fresh croissants for breakfast from a local bakery most days. One of the main highlights of our trip was the dinner prepared by Francesca, Andrea’s wife. It was delicious. We all enjoyed our time at Villa Carda! I highly recommend it!
There is very little I can add to the previous reviews.
The Villa is perfect and all the details are taken care.
However, I would like to emphasize the great relationship established with Andrea, the owner. It has been a pleasure to be in contact with such a person (and his family).
Always available, always ready to help, always a good person to interact and learn about the region and Italy.
An unforgettable experience that I would recommend to everybody!
This is our second visit to Villa Carda...really says it all.
This really is a little piece of heaven and we will keep coming here until we are physically unable to do so. Andrea and his father are so welcoming and attentive, and such lovely people. We feel blessed that we had the opportunity to return to this wonderful villa, where every little detail has been attended to.
We never had Andrea and Francesca cook for us this time as we were busy with day trips, but this is an experience you must savour.
This time, we visited Assisi, and Cortona, the both being lovely places and too far to drive to.
We will absolutely return to a Villa a Carda for our week of peace, tranquility and top class facilities. Thank you so much Andrea .
We had our wedding at Villa Carda in early August and everything went flawless. We were 13 adults and 2 infants staying the whole week at the villa plus one extra guest for the wedding.
The rooms were great with private bathrooms, comfortable beds and generally beautiful interiors. Four out of six bedrooms have private entrances from the outside and the last two are on the upper floor which also hosts the kitchen and communal areas. The villa is supplied with many things that made our stay enjoyable for everyone. The pool and sauna areas are simply stunning but we also enjoyed table tennis, golf, ball games and a poker set. To be honest we didn't have the time to try all of the things that were available.
As to the wedding we couldn't be more happy! Owner Andrea acted like a professional wedding planner and without charging anything extra helped us with flower arrangements, decorations, sound system, wedding cake and finding an officiant for the ceremony. His wife and a colleague of hers (she operates another villa in the area) prepared a fantastic three course wedding dinner which we enjoyed in the gazebo by the pool, prepared for the night with decorative lights and lanterns.
We cannot imagine anything that could have made our wedding day better and the value for money aspect was superb. Thank you so much Andrea for making both our day and our week so special!
Lastly a note on practicalities. It is necessary to have cars to get around, everything else would be highly impractical. Also note that the area around the villa is not the liveliest. There is a great restaurant called Nonna Giuditta in Castel Focognano, a beautiful little village close to the villa. However, it is only open on weekends. In Rassina, the closest (small) town, everything is closed for lunchtime so you would need to stray farther or eat at the villa. In Bibbiena, about 15-20 minutes from the villa, there is a good supermarket where you can find all the basics you might need for cooking. Also note that Arezzo is not far away, about 30-40 minutes by car. It has a truly beautiful old town and we went there for dinner two nights.
Although we encountered some inconveniences with the local opening times it was not something that disturbed us significantly and if we have the opportunity I would not hesitate to go back to Villa Carda. It is a truly magnificent property and the memories of our week will stay with us forever.
This is a long overdue review of our stay in May. We were a group of 9 - two families with adult children travelling together. Villa Carda was spectacular. The views and the grounds are incredible. Meticulously maintained. It was a great location to explore Tuscany. We visited Arezzo, Siena, Cortona, Florence, Montepulciano, Pienza and Poppi. As other reviewers mentioned, one of the highlights was a fabulous dinner prepared by Andrea & Francesca which they so kindly prepared for us even though they had a new baby at home! Although it is doable we did not walk to Carda or Castel Focagnano for dinner. We always drove. We had wonderful pizza from the restaurant in the town of Castel Focagnano and also dinner there our last evening. Another nearby restaurant which I recommend was Osteria Il Toscano in Rassina. Andrea could not have been easier to deal with or more helpful. He arranged for our breakfast pastries to be delivered everyday (croissants filled with cream, nutella or jelly and only 1.00 Euro!). He even ordered and picked up himself and delivered to the Villa a birthday cake for our son. Andrea & Francesca are truly two of the nicest people you will ever meet. It was everything we hoped our vacation would be. I only wish it had been longer!
