This was a wonderful meal with great service; easy going and helpful. We loved loved loved this place. Try the ginger Fizz as a change from the ubiquitous ( and delicious) Aperol. Decor and setting reminded me of Greek island eating. Go there if you like chilled out dining. Also, Uber romantic seats in the stairs if you were sans enfants...

The look is definitely that of an alternative property (apart from the rustic look, with tables perched on the steps of a small lane, some signboards tell: "no wi-fi available, please talk among yourselves"; "no famous person has ever eaten here" and so on). The question is whether this will to stand out is successful.
My answer is: yes, it is certainly for food; while as to the value for money, the property is a bit ovepriced.
Let's start from this downside: more than 128 euro for four people isn't a small figure.
Instead about the food nothing to object: three appetizers, consisting of plates of sardines with "escabeche" (= in sour sauce) vegetables; four main dishes, ie grilled sardines, prawns, and two delicious bowls of "caciucco" fish soup (but smaller than the regular "caciucco" one), two desserts of "drunken cake" with Aleatico wine, and an outstanding ice cream with raisins drowned in brandy.
Also nice management: question "Are you the cook?"; Answer: "No, I'm just the one who prepares the food".
Now you know everything there is to know.

We had a cruise ship day on Elba and ended up taking a bus to the hilltop village of Capoliveri. I had done a quick TA search, but the place I selected for lunch was closed midday in October, so we ended up at Cacciucco Blues, mostly because the sign said “Live Music Sometimes.” I wasn’t expecting live music, but the whimsy of the sign separated this place somehow.

We were the only late lunch diners, so there was plenty of time so the youthful seeming 40-ish owner, Francesco, could use his abundant charm and moderate English to make our lunch a real food experience as well as a great meal. The “una per due” (one for two) mixed salad came on a plate that was 14 inches across, I swear, and beautifully presented: three whole leaves of radiccio each about the size of a cupped hand formed a triangle between more whole leaves of green lettuce plus bright tomatoes and olives and I can’t recall what all.

I don’t remember reading a menu, since Francesco took it upon himself to explain what was special that day, and we ordered. My fish with pasta was unlike any I’ve had elsewhere. The fish was poached and boned, then almost minced or chunked into a pile in the middle of the plate where the spaghetti and some light sauce was poured over it and only barely tossed so there were bits of tasty fish all through the pasta but still whole forkfuls of fish at the center. It was lovely.

If we’re ever back on Elba, I’m taking the bus and eating here again.

If you are planning to visit the Toscanian island of Elba and if you are looking for an excellent restaurant with a very nice atmosphere and fantastic kicthen, than you have to go to CACCIUCCO restaurant in Capoliveri. This restaurant is a little bit hidden in one of the cosy streets of Capoliveri and offers a unique atmosphere.
Here you can find excellent and extarordinary meals together with a friendly service. The owner, Francesco Bacchetia, is a very nice guy who cooks with passion and enthusiasm. You will certainly like his wild boar specials and his gorgeous fish.
Besides the excellent kitchen the CACCIUCCO offers something which is hard to find in Elba: a non-commercial attitude without people who need to show off. This is a cosy place, not suitable for snobby or arrogant people, but suitable for all those who liek to enjoy friendlyness and a "personal touch".
The CACCIUCCO is for sure a "jewel" among the restaurant of Elba. I can really recommend it and look forward to meet Francesco and his team again.

kiind regards
