Stayed here for 5 nights - loved it. Ultra central location overlooking Piazza d’Oronzo, Roman amphitheater included. Large room, all facilities, huge spread for breakfast, and just amazing value. People lovely too.

Room Tip: Overlooking the Piazza was amazing!

The rooms overlook the main square in the city so could not be more central. However we were there in the shoulder season so perhaps there may be a noise issue in the high season. The room is good size ....good comfortable bed and small TV though no English speaking channels. The bathroom was well equipped.... toiletries etc Hotel is on the 2nd floor of commercial building so the entrance is not too obvious and is not manned during the day so pay attention to check in times. The staff are friendly though English limited...small cold buffet breakfast served and while not hugh is adequate. If arriving by train the walk to the hotel will tak2 about 20 minutes....there is no bus service that can be used though there is some taxi availability

My wife and I (with our 2 year old daughter) booked the 2-bedroom apartment. While the b&b is quite basic, we found the apartment to have everything we needed with plenty of space and very clean. There is some noise from the street as it is in the heart of the city (best location) however this is what you get for a great location. WIFI was always good and the breakfast was nice with fresh pastries and they will even make fresh orange juice for you.

The communication during the reservation process wasn't perfect however the family at LecceSalento couldn't have been more kind and generous with our family during our 3 nights. They were wonderful. One suggestion is to have some kind of contact during the day (ie. WhatsApp) for questions.

We loved our stay here and will return!

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room - if they exist?

Due to an unforeseen incident on the day we were to arrive, we needed to cancel the reservation that I had booked through expedia. I called the host that same day, to no answer, emailed him, no reply, and called the next day and he told me that I would need to take the issue up with Expedia. Now the host's policy as stated on Expedia's website is that if a no-show occurs, only ONE night is to be charged. The owner charged me for FOUR nights (the total of nights that I had originally booked). I contacted Expedia to reverse the charges, which in turn they contacted the owner, but he has repeatedly AVOIDED their calls and one point told them their finance department is closed and will need to call back. I am STILL trying to collect the money that I am due.

There is so much to admire about this five-room B&B in the very heart of Lecce that one is reluctant to comment about two negative points. On the plus side the place could hardly be more central: right on the Piazza Sant' Oronzo within easy walking distance of all the sights (and sites). The rooms are large and well-equipped though while the TV appeared to have several score channels I never found a foreign-language station. There is wfi. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is included and simple but quite adequate: fruit, yoghurts, breads, juice, cakes etc. Staff are helpful and in one case multilingual. Sheets and towels are changed regularly and beds made up. Lecce is not an expensive place and nor is this B&B. The train and bus stations are walkable. So why the reservations?
First because the central position means that the rooms can be very noisy, even if they have shutters. The piazza is at the very heart of the city and at weekends especially can be very noisy. Second and more important is the access problem. Guests are rarely in a position to give exact details of their time of arrival. There is only a small sign on a wall to indicate the existence of the place. Noone expects a five-room B&B to give five star service but it is quite nice if someone is there to check you in. The notice on the bellpush is illegible and you will need your mobile to call the numbers on the sign. We were lucky in that a nice lady appeared anyway after we had been hanging around for several minutes but the next day we came across a couple who had been waiting for some time in driving rain. Guests who do manage to check in are given a set of keys (one outside door, one or two inside doors) so we let them in and later discovered they had been transferred to another B&B.

Room Tip: There is one room that is a virtual apartment: bedroom, bathroom, sitting room, kitchen. Left on leaving the lift.
