There were four of us driving along the Amalfi coast to Sorrento. We were looking for somewhere for brunch and managed to park across the road from Chiosco Bar.
The location is beautiful, right on the seafront. We weren't sure about the place because it looks so small and basic, but the owner couldn't have been more friendly and we decided to sit down.
His English was brilliant (just as well, because our Italian is non-existent without Google translate). Although there was a small blackboard hanging on a wall with around half a dozen dishes listed, we weren't offered a menu, just a few suggestions like: "how about I get you a nice panini with some sausage or ham or cheese or a mixture......maybe with some salad......?" We stopped him mid-sentence and all ordered our own variations of those paninis, which were delicious. Simple, but generous portions with perfectly fresh tasty ingredients.
Not being given a menu didn't seem to matter, the owner was such a nice friendly guy, we instantly just trusted him to bring us something nice and he didn't let us down. There were also many different craft beers on offer. Unfortunately, I was driving so didn't get to sample any, but as a beer drinker, if I ever return to stay longer in Maiori - which I hope to because it's a delightful seaside resort - I'll definitely be visiting this bar every day.
