Very nice, no frills hotel right on the beach. Rooms are clean and the hotel is very pleasant. Breakfast is with the restaurant downstairs and is good by Italian standards. The hotel is near Sorrento but is a bit isolated due to the narrow roads in the area. We had a small car and parking was free.
I asked for a room with wifi. What I got was reminiscent of Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs. The room had one bed pushed up against the wall with about 1/2 a meter of space next to it. No other furniture exept for a small set of drawers. Not even enough room to open the suitcase. No wifi. I asked to change room and got a room with a slightly larger bed, with a lovey view of a brick wall. Still no wifi which I needed to connect to work. After day two of no wifi I found the access point on the wall outside, pulled it down and fixed it myself. The breakfast was basically stail pastries and chewy cornflakes..
If I had my way I could write a short book about this lovely hotel and its staff,we stayed from the 10th to the 16th May in room 205, it has a lovely view over the bay to Naples and Vesuvio.the whole experience was beautiful and we've stayed in many hotels in and around Sorrento/Amalfi Coast region over the years, this one ranks as one of the best we've ever been to.
our room and the entire hotel was spotless and always smelt fresh, the breakfast is served Al Fresco at the front of the hotel literally on the beach and it is excellent, the restaurant [La Tavernetta] is also excellent with all the meals prepared to very very high standards. we were picked up from Sorrento Station by Ernesto who is a brilliant bloke and very knowledgable, Cinzia and the reception staff go that extra mile to help in any way they can and the restaurant staff especially Eleanor who made our evenings there very pleasurable, they also have a very good choice of wines, beers and spirits[Italian and foreign].
The bay itself is a little treasure its away from the madding crowd with a small but nice selection of bars in a cluster all within walking distance of the hotel,it's also a working bay with some fishing boats moored nearby and everyone we met was most welcoming and made it a pleasure to be there so much that we only ventured out of the bay about six times.
We will definitely be returning to Baia di Puolo again,
Thank you all for such a wonderful stay especially Ernesto,Cinzia and Eleanor.
The Hotel Baia is a nice place, 3 Star hotel. The hotel was clean and most of the staff were very helpful but one was especially helpful, Antonio who went out of his way to help us arrange taxis, excursions to Capri and anything else we needed.
As far as the rooms went ours was on the third floor (303) with a great view of Naples and Vesuvius across the bay. It was a little larger with a double bed and another single. In this room, the bathroom was large but the shower was tiny, if you remember phone booths, that size. The A/C which is controlled by the front desk was a little warm but you can ask to have it set lower. Our room was clean as was the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was provided on the terrace and was minimal but pretty standard for this class of hotel.
I have no real complaints about the hotel except for getting to it. If you did not drive in, it is a 15 minute Taxi ride into Sorrento which costs anywhere from 50 euro (metered), 40 if the hotel arranges it or we got one for 25 when it was arranged by our restaurant. It can get expensive very quickly. On the other hand, driving can be "sport" in Italy so you need to consider that too. The hotel will provide a shuttle but is limited and must be arranged in advance, 4 pass. per trip.
Great for quiet or family, we'd just been in Istanbul so it was a very pleasant change and very relaxing. With the transportation limitations, I would still recommend this hotel with that understanding.
My wife and I have just returned from a week at this hotel. We travelled by hire car from Naples and planned to see the main tourist attractions. The people ,culture of driving and roads were mayhem.
The hotel , its location and the staff were a polar opposite.
Thank you so much for your hospitality and warmth. This gem of a location gave a real flavour of the genuine pleasant normal folk and not the mad tourist trade that was met once you left this idyllic bay.
The amenities were basic but the cleanliness could not be faulted. The reception staff were excellent. Warm and friendly.
Thanks
