After a long day of travel, it was nice to check in and put our feet up. The private balcony and view of the ocean was great. The bed was comfortable. There was no air conditioning, but the breeze was sufficient for us. Room may be a little hot during the summer without and a/c. Staff was friendly and helpful. Gave us a town map and recommended places to eat. They held our bags on arrival until check in and again on departure. There are good places to eat nearby. It is a lot of stairs to the beach below the hotel. It is a little away from the main shopping/tourist area. However, it is closer to the Chiesa Nuova SITA stop than the hotels closer to the heart of town, so if you are planning hiking, like I did, then it is a good choice.

Made our booking online with the impression that we were going to have one of the widely advertised 'sea-view' rooms. This is Positano and waking up to that view is crucial.
We arrived to find that we were giving a side room. After bringing this up with the on duty lady. She said we had got the 'partial sea-view' room - which involved you leaning over the blacony to see.
After this dissapointment I'm still shocked in how it is rated 3star. Our room was cleaned once out of our 3 days and the bathroom stenched of damp with not enough water pressure in the shower to wash soap off let alone shampoo.
On top of this, there is a curfew.
Spend the extra bucks and stay somewhere nicer.

Carlo is very sweet but the first room we had was very noisy due to people dragging themselves or their wheelie suitcases up and down the steps directly outside the window. We were moved to a room with a terrace on request (but no A/C) and the view could not be faulted. Bathroom rather strange but plenty of hot water etc. Good location above Furnillo Beach but it's quite a walk from the SITA bus stop. We had breakfast both days which was good value for 6 euros although only toast (no croissants). Quite a small place and so noise from other rooms etc. Very good value though, basically a hostel type place, and staff very nice.

Room Tip: Only some rooms have terraces and some have rather basic bathrooms. Room 7 very noisy

Fabulous old school family run business now looked after the son of the original owners Mr Carlo..What a delight the happiest man on earth..The views are amazing, Room #4 had a gorgeous private view of the water, while the commonly used terrace provided the best view...Trust me you wont find a better price in Positano..Yes Yes..It could use a lick of paint ..BUT couldn't we all !!
Thank you Mr Carlo..Enjoy your winter in Austria with your family.

Room Tip: Room 4 has great views

We had a very pleasant stay at Pensione Maria Luisa, we felt welcome and we developed through the days a genuine home feeling. We like the position between lower Positano and upper Positano ( Chiesa Nuova ). One of my favourite activities was doing groceries at Giovanni's Alimentari and drinking cappuccino with sfogliatina at the Bar Internazionale ( the pizza is also very good, delivered from an excellent bakery ) in Chiesa Nuova part of Positano. From here it's very easy to catch busses to Amalfi, Sorrento etc... just in front of the bar. The owner of the Pensione is very nice, polite and welcoming. His staff as well. the view is WONDERFUL!! We used to dine at Ristorante Saraceno d'Oro, close by the hotel, same family of the owner, great food and great service. ( there is also a discount for guest of Pensione ML ) What a great place to stay, GRAZIE!
