We were not expecting to find this great little spot right before embarking on "The Path of the Gods" trek. We were greeted with such enthusiasm and treated to lovely home made biscuits with our coffee. Mumma climbed the ladder to pick the fresh tomatoes growing inside while Papa prepared some fresh seafood, all the while singing away. This is such a unique spot and the vies are incredible.

We stopped for lunch at this restaurant towards the end of the Path of the Gods. The restaurant appears to be housed in an eclectically decorated shack with great views from the outside terrace towards the sea. The restaurant sells drinks and snacks, we drank lemon juice and ate bruschetta and mozzarella and tomatoes. The meal was good value considering the local prices.

This has got to be in my top 10 for quirky real authentic little cafes in the world and what a joy to find on a hot day on the trail end of a steep long hike from Bomerano to Nocelle on the walk of the gods. I was sooooo thirsty and the lemon juice and iced soda was sublime along with the stunning views as I sat perched on a terrifying balcony over looking Positano. You could not have made up this cafe if you tried in terms of decor...a lamp shade made out of a plate, strings of chillies and tomatoes, an old map, a barrel in a tree trunk holding up the roof, fresh wild flowers in vases on each table. There is not a great choice to eat but it was all freshly made and smelt heavenly and was a great price! Mama sang washing up in the open plan kitchen and papa smiled! What a treat and what a characterful, fun, genuine place!

We stumbled upon this small restaurant at the Nocelle end of the Path of the Gods (il Sentieri degli Dei) having walked from Bomerano for three hours. Our water had run dry and this place was like an oasis in the desert.

"Ramshackle" describes the premises pretty well I think, and having just witnessed some of the sheer drops on The Path, we were a bit hesitant about going out on their covered terrace, but it's fine. Sit right on the edge of the terrace - if you can get a table - and take in some of the same breathtaking views you've just experienced on The Path, except now with an ice-cold beer in your hands and a deliciously fresh Caprese salad on your plate.

Prices are good too - €4 for a large beer (660ml) is the cheapest we'd paid on the Sorrento peninsula. Forget the price of the Caprese - €1,50 or €2, not more. And the ingredients so fresh.

"Rustic" was my wife's description of the toilet, but it was clean and everything worked. No complaints.

When we asked the way to the steps down to Positano, the owner even gave us some good advice: the steps emerge near Arienzo and he estimated it would take us a further 45 minutes to walk from there, along the busy and narrow coast road, to Positano. This was very helpful to us, because we needed to catch the last ferry back to Sorrento.

This is more of a place for a snack and a drink after the walk of the gods. But believe me, it's the best value for quality I had in Italy. For 1.5€ per serving he made bruschetta fresh out of his garden and it was incredible. If you're ever up there doing the hike, stop in for a bite...you'll be glad you did.
