“Fantastically authentic stay”
Reviewed 17 August 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We had a wonderful stay at Casa San Tommasso from beginning to end. On arrival Pasquale (Giovanna's husband) was waiting to greet us. The apartment was perfect with a stunning view of the sea. It was very clean and had everything needed for a care free stay.
Pasquale was the perfect host and even treated us to some delicious home-made marinated anchovies and pasta, which was a highlight of our trip.
Praiano is a lovely area to stay as it is away from the main crowds of places like Positano and Amalfi, however provides easy access to still visit these places. We were introduced to some of the other villagers through Pasquale, which again made our trip more authentic.
The location of the apartment is perfect and within walking distance of the beach, although if you did not wish to climb the steps ( of which there are many, but this would be the case for all apartments on the coast) you can easily catch a bus. The restaurants and local bus stop for access to Positano etc are also within easy walking distance from the apartment.
The apartment would be ideal for a small family or couples. We cannot recommend this apartment enough and were so impressed by the generosity and kindness of Pasquale, and not to mention the stunning location. The view from the balcony both morning and evening is perfect. We certainly hope to visit again in the future.

“Lovely apartment for up to four”

The photos are a good representation of the apartment. The balcony has stunning views of the coast, three sun loungers and a table with sun-shade. The main room and the master bedroom have modern, quiet air conditioners, which we appreciated in the middle of August in a heat wave; at other times you could probably sleep comfortably without.

The whole apartment was spotlessly clean when we arrived (the directions were good, and the advice about not bring too much luggage is well made), and is beautifully decorated. The second bedroom (not shown in the photos) is a good size with a large double bed, but does not have any external windows (it has a connecting skylight to the master bedroom) - our daughter was very pleased with it, and it would also suit a second couple. The kitchen area is well equipped and we did a mixture of cooking in the flat and eating out - there's plenty of places to eat locally, the best meal we had was at the closest restaurant, just up and along from the flat (La Moressa), although Kasai is also very good.

Pasquale (lives in the next door apartment) was a very gracious host and was happy to suggest places to go, places to eat, how to get around etc. We had a car and did a fair amount of driving (including visiting both Pompeii and Herculaneum, at about 1.5 hours drive away), although driving along the coast is not for the faint-hearted. You can also manage with the SITA/local bus service along the coast, and there are boats and water taxis which we didn't try (our daughter doesn't like boats). The buses were very busy when we were there, so you have to be patient. Both Amalfi and Positano are a short bus trip away, and you can stay in the relative tranquility of Praiano.

There are two pebbly beaches in Praiano - the closest in Marina is more or less straight down, it's an amazing location, squeezed in between the cliffs, but mostly taken up with sun loungers (fully booked ahead of time in high season). You can sit on the far size next to the boats for free, and it's in shade until lunch time. The other (less busy) beach is round the headland on which the village is built towards Positano and down a similar number of steps, and at first is less appealing - all the sun-loungers are on a concrete pier, but this leaves the beach round the corner free, and again it has shade until after lunch. This beach has a much bigger swimming area and the snorkelling was better.

Overall a great apartment, a nice peaceful location (for Amalfi coast at high season) and a great holiday - thanks Pasquale.

“Wonderful location”
Reviewed 12 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Praiano, like the entire Amalfi coast, is a truly stunning location, with the added bonus of being quieter than nearby Positano and with a genuine local, friendly feel. Just be aware that you won't be able to get anywhere in this area without going up and down a LOT of steps. Casa San Tomasso makes the most of the spectacular scenery with a sun balcony taking in breathtaking views over the sea and along the coast. And if it's views you're after, check out the en-suite bathroom! The bathrooms in particular are very well appointed and the whole apartment was fresh and spotlessly clean - you can tell when owners really value your custom. There is so much to do in this part of Italy that you will be out and about most days but there will be some when you will want nothing more than just to stay "at home", relax with a drink on the balcony and soak in one of the most spectacular coastal views you are ever likely to have.

“Stunning location, amazing value”
Reviewed 4 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We had an absolutely delightful holiday in Praiano staying at the wonderful Casa San Tommaso 2

The apartment is exceptionally clean. The balcony is very big, with two sun loungers and a large dining table. The view from the balcony is incredible. You get the same view from the window in the bathroom too!
The apartment has everything you need - the kitchen is well equipped, the bathrooms are clean and attractive.
The apartment is located about ten minutes walk from the Main Street in Praiano but there are restaurants that are closer. For example, La Moressa which has a beautiful terrace and Kasai Kasai is quite close. The local supermarket has everything you need including a large wine cellar!

The beach is about 15 minutes walk away down lots of steps...fine on the way down but tiring on the way back up! This is a small price to pay for staying in a lovely location however. The nearby beach also has great restaurants.

Overall a wonderful stay in a fantastic apartment.

“Lovely stay in gorgeous Praiano”
Reviewed 27 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We had a fabulous stay with our 10-month-old daughter in this beautiful apartment in sleepy Praiano. Apartment is superbly kept, with all the kitchen equipment you could hope for. Add to that a private balcony with gorgeous views of the sea, a short walk down to the bay, and you have the perfect base to explore the Amalfi Coast.

The owner was very kind and even helped us sort out an issue we had with one of our travel providers. Thank you!
