As Roman theatres go, this doesn't rate that highly, although certainly one of the main site in this lovely town. The entrance fee is only a Euro, although the best views looking down upon the theatre from the Piazza dela Libertà are free.

A classic example of simple amphitheatre design that shows there has been no need to update the blueprint since Ancient Roman times. A wonderful museum upstairs, too, with a "Last Supper" fresco, showing the menu that night was…..squirrel!

A great museum for telling the Roman history of Spoleto. Since 1956, the amphitheatre was re dug up and uncovered. It is amazing that a convent was built over the site.
This is a museum not to be missed when in Spoleto

. . . so how could we not visit. It is part of the well organized and arranged museum of Roman times in Spoleto and we spent a good couple of hours visiting - time flew and we were surprised how much we'd seen.

All of the seating area and many other elements have been restaurant to the point that it is more a reproduction than a historic monument. Despite this, the site does no give a real sense of the grandeur of the original structure
