A beautiful property from where one could enjoy the exhilarating landscapes of Tuscany. We stayed in the room A on the second floor and everything about the room was quite perfect. Like many others we also enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast served in an old chapel attached to the house which is now a dining hall. The city center of Volterra is not very far and one could even manage to walk - except for the steep uphill terrain for around 200 meters. The hosts and the staff were very warm and courteous. If you want a room with a view, then choose one from the ground floors, it could be a little more expensive but worth it.

Room tip: If you want a room with a view, then choose one from the ground floors, it could be a little more expensive but worth it

After the first stay of my parents at Podere San Lorenzo near Volterra five years ago, it was clear to them that they would return. I was fortunate enough to accompany them on their second visit in May of 2016. I was overcome by the magical ambiance of the location and the house. Marinelle, her husband and the staff were extremely accommodating and delightful. The food was excellent – so much so, that it was difficult for us to eat elsewhere. The rooms had wonderful views, were clean, tidy and spacious. The location allows for easy day trips to several nearby Tuscany towns and regions. It is also a pleasure simply to hang around, relax, wander through the olive tree orchards and leave the bustle of daily life behind. I will definately return.

We stayed here about 10 years ago (2007), before it was easy to find on the internet. (had to lie on the review date because I saw this on Trip Advisor and HAD to write a review on our experience. Forgive me but it was that good) We were looking for a quiet, quaint out of the way B&B in Tuscany that offered cooking classes. By pure luck, we managed to find this place. So thankful we came across this while scouring the internet.

The owner was so very kind, the rooms had exactly what you needed for a Tuscan B&B (this is not a Hotel in the city keep in mind), the farm was very charming with their olive orchards and beautiful flowers. We were able to take a few walks around the property to get better views. Just stunning. I cannot recommend highly enough, to take the time to a) get up early to see the sunrise..WOW and b) staying up late and looking at the stars.

The food was terrific. The cooking classes were all hands-ons and given with a very personal touch. The owner walked around and helped everyone and talked about why things were what they were (I believe we made and a few other things that have escaped me over the years. But it was very enjoyable. We were given a recipe book, with the recipes we made that evening along with at least 20 other classic Italian recipes (it was probably more) and an apron with San Podere San Lorenzo logo on it. All very nicely done.

There was a nearby town, short driving distance, that offered some shopping, good food, history and gelato. Also was just in reach for a day trip to Pisa by car.

I really can't say enough about how enjoyable our experience was. I'll close by simply saying, the first chance we get to go back, we will be going here.

Room tip: Get up early to watch the sun rise!! Stay up late to look at the stars !!!

We went in October with my partner and it was one of the best accomodation we had in Tuscany. Simple, but so beautiful, surrounded by tons of olive trees. Marinella, the owner, is so nice, friendly and helpful.

One night it was pouring, was quite bad, so we decided to stay at teh Podere, and Marinella and her husban organized / improvised a nice meal for us, including a bottle of local wine. It was a perfect evening!

They also have the most adorable cat and dog in all Tuscany!

My husband, my parents & I all stayed at Podere San Lorenzo in November 2015. We had such a great time there! The owners & other ladies who worked there were all very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were basic but clean and had amazing views. The apartment could use a couple more amenities (we didn't have a dish cloth but they got us one when we asked), but overall I would say that the place is great because of the beautiful historic building (the breakfast/dinner room is in an old chapel), the wonderful views, and the AMAZING food!!!! We had dinner there the first night and quickly decided we didn't want to eat anywhere else. My husband & I took cooking classes and had a great time. The food was honestly the best we had in 2.5 weeks in Italy! The town of Volterra is also very charming with many cute shops & again, just magnificent views. Thank you to Marinella & staff for inviting us into your home, treating us like family, and allowing us to have such a wonderful stay!
