The rental apartment is on what is essentially an upper ground floor and the owner and his wife live on the floor above. We had some difficulty communicating with them as they spoke no English, French or German, but a neighbour helped. However, they were very welcoming, and an English-speaking girl had met us off the bus to show us the way to the apartment. As we were a couple, they had made up the double bed in one room - however, we asked if we could see the other room, which was a nicer, lighter room looking out onto the balcony and it had twin beds - so the owner kindly obliged and made up the beds in that room. The bathroom is modern, but the kitchen more traditional - but it is perfectly adequate. We ate out for all our evening meals as there were several cafes and restaurants in the village of Maslinica and elsewhere on the island. The balcony was large and private, but you could only just see the sea because of a house straight across the road. However, it was only 100 metres or less to reach the beach. It was lovely to have a pre-breakfast swim in the crystal clear water - totally tranquil in September. There were beautiful views across to several islands in the bay, and we had some amazing sunsets. There was a lounge, with TV, but we didn't have time to sit and relax as we were out exploring the island - or eating out in the evening.
