We picked this restaurant for dinner both cause it was really close to our hotel and also because it appeared to have fish dishes, which was exactly what we were looking for. We were quite disappointed though when we read the menu: they only had 2 kind of fresh fish (and of one they only had one unit left), there were 4 entrées, only one with fish and in the main dishes there was no fish at all, the only available main dish with fish was the bouillabaisse, but we found out that it was necessary to reserve it (it would be nice to write it on the big ad on the street maybe?). Further more, the waiter, as nice as he was, kept chatting with people (not clients, just random people who were there, friends or relatives we supposed) and so we had to wait a lifetime for everything: 30 minutes to bring us water and wine, 15 minutes more for the entrées, 20 minutes for the entrées plates to be removed and 20 more minutes to finally eat our main dish. Desserts luckily were quicker, but it took us about 2 hours to finish our dinner (and the place was not that packed). For the price we paid, you can have a great dinner in other restaurants not that far away, really, wouldn't go back or advice someone to go there, the food was good, but that is so not enough.

We had a nice dinner with fresh fish cooked in the hooven.
Dessert very good
The dinner was nice and really good.
The place is nice under a grapes tree.
The price ok for fresh fish, about 30 € per person, included starters, drinks, dessert and coffee.

We came to Le Menestrel for lunch in late May. My wife and I had a 2-course lunch menu for EUR 18.50. I had a beefsteak with cheese sauce, green beans and fried potatoes: excellent, sufficiently large and nicely presented. My wife had a piece of veal with marinated red onions, also very good and quite unusual. Desert: amazing crème bruleé. Environment very tranquil, shaded and frequented by locals. Service very polite. My only criticism: Opening hours advertised on Google were incorrect. We'd tried to come for lunch before based on opening hours on Google and the place was closed.

We went to Le Menestrel based on the reviews on Tripadvisor, so knew the location was not the greatest but expected good food and service. To summarize our dinner: very poor atmosphere, average to poor food, slow service (though others were clearly served faster).

The location is poor, there is nothing cute about the low-end back of a strip mall overlooking low-end housing. There is a cover with vines, but that does not make a huge difference. The chairs and tables are very cheap plastic, what one expects at a low end diner or truck stop, not a restaurant.

Our service was super slow. They were not busy on the night. Others did seem to be served more quickly, but for a small, half-empty place, waiting 45 minutes for a salad is ridiculous.

Food was variable. The fresh fish was fine, but nothing special. Basically, they bought fresh fish at the market and grilled it and gave one side. No sauces or special spices, and it was a fair amount of work since the fish was not cleaned. I made just as good fish by buying at the local fish store the daily catch and cooking in our apartment with olive oil and lemon.

The salad was fine, but boring. One type of green leaves, basic vinaigrette, some slices of the local jambon.

The children's menu was plain bad. Old, reheated lasagna (multiple times from how rubbery the cheese was) and freezer-burnt store-bought ice cream. First time my son did not finish chocolate ice cream.

They offer a free digestive at the end of the meal.

If the price was a third less, maybe would say it was fine, but for the price, poor location and slow service, just not worth the risk. There are much better places in Porticcio.

Friendly familiy-run restaurant with nicely cooked dishes. The surroundings might not be the best but the atmosphere and the pergola are worth the trip!
Great place!
