“Our cosy home at the foot of the Vosges”

Carole met us as we drove up the drive and we were struck instantly by her warm, welcoming personality. She very quickly gave us an orientation of the apartment and recommended both local special spots and places worth driving to -- some of them out of the way that only a local would know. Some days we ate out and some we days we cooked dinner in our little cosy apartment. Actually, it's not little. There's plenty of room here with a side kitchen that has all you need, two comfy couches, and a comfortable double bed. THE VIEW IS ASTOUNDING. Riquewihr is a popular, stunning village on the wine route and is only a 3 minute walk down the path -- we loved the morning outing. But up on our patio looking out at the vineyard, you feel a million miles away from everyone. Perhaps best of all for those who have a car (and you need a car!), the apartment is essentially dead centre in the region so whether you go north or south for the day's adventure, you never seem to really be more than 30 minutes away most days, with Strasbourg being about 45 mins. and some of the best villages only 5-10 mins away. Yes, we would recommend for people looking for a beautifully situated, comfortable but not necessarily luxurious rental that has a beautiful view and the most accommodating and kind hostess. We would love to stay again.

“Brilliant base for exploring this beautiful region.”

We stayed at Le Mellerie in mid July. It is in a brilliant location situated up a small hill on the outskirts of the town surrounded on every side by vineyards. It is a 2 minute walk from the apartment in to Riquewihr which easily lives up to its reputation as one of the prettiest villages in France. Amazing views across Alsace from the apartment. Carole and her family live in the rest of the house but we were not disturbed by them and Carole couldn't be more helpful with suggestions of trips out and good eating places. Very warm and welcoming. The apartment is clean and spacious with lots of helpful information on the surrounding area. We stayed for 3 days but it would be excellent for longer. Riquewihr is beautiful as are the surrounding towns. Ribeauville, kaysersberg, and a bit further away, Strasbourg is also well worth a day trip. We ate out 3 times. Le Trotthhus was excellent. Need to book. Outstanding food. Tucked away down a back street at the top of the village. Also had 'tarte flambé ' local delicacy like a pizza with cheese onion and lardons

“Stunning views!”
Reviewed 25 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We had a brilliant week in this apartment, it is in a great location with plenty to do nearby. It is very peaceful and relaxing and you could spend hours on the terrace just looking at the view. The picturesque village of Riquewihr is just a couple of minutes walk, with lots of restaurants and bars to choose from. The owner is a brilliant host, she was very welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed and made very good recommendations of things to do. The apartment itself is well equipped, clean and spacious. A perfect place to see the Alsace region!

“Fantastic View!!”
Reviewed 7 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The owner was very nice and friendly, lots of good recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. The location was perfect, a vineyard right in front of the patio and a short walk to Riquewihr old town. The view was fantastic!! The suite was comfortable.
