We stayed five nights in this charming family run hotel which is located in the main square in the medieval part of Sarlat. Our room was huge and nicely decorated in a traditional style in keeping with the period of the building. I think the bedroom would benefit from having a second luggage stand and perhaps a waste paper basket. The bathroom too was large and had two wash hand basins which was useful for our family of three. The WC is separate from the bathroom. It took us a wee while to work out how to switch the shower from the bath tap to the overhead (you press on the rocker switch and rotate) but it was fine after that. What makes this place outstanding however is the friendliness and warmth of the owners and the other staff. Breakfast was delicious. French bread and croissants with some wonderful local jams (the orange jam is particularly good, it is not like marmalade but is more of a jam - we liked it so much that we bought some at the market to take home with us) . Breakfast also came with fresh nectarines and the coffee was outstanding. There was a restaurant at this hotel. We ate there three nights out of the five. The quality of the food was excellent and the prices more reasonable than most of the other local restaurants. Dishes that we particularly recommend include the duck breast, the lasagne and the mixed omelette. If you have a sweet tooth you must order the profiteroles. They also do splendid ice cream sundaes and crepes. The location is fantastic and it is wonderful to wake up on Saturday morning and find the market right outside your window/door. Our only criticism was the level of traffic noise during the night but we got used to this after the first couple of nights. Also if you have young children they might be disturbed by the conversation from the restaurant below but this did not bother us at all. A final word of warning - because this hotel is located within the pedestrian part of old Sarlat you cannot bring a car into the square. There is a car park about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. It is free between 7pm and 9am. If you buy a ticket for say 4 hours at 6pm, then the unused 3 hours carries over to the morning so you don't need to go early to feed the meter. We loved staying at this hotel and would definitely choose it again.

The hotel is right in the middle of Sarlat in the Place de Liberte - you do not get better than this.
The place is pedestrianised and in the medieval city. Rooms overlook the beautiful place and are huge with large bathrooms.
Breakfast is lovely - brilliant croissants, lots of bread, jam, fruit juice, fruit and hot drinks for 7 euros.
Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Did not ask for a deposit which is good if you dont live in France and therefore dont have access to french cheques.
I would absolutely definitely stay here again if I came back.
The only thing to bear in mind is parking - you have to park just on the outside of the old city but there is ample parking a short 180 m walk away - we didn't have a problem at all.

No hesitation in recommending this accommodation at all - try it you will love it.

Staying in this B&B was like something taken out of a movie. The rooms are located on the top two floors of a charming 18th century building right on Sarlat's main square. The street level houses the owner's cafe where one takes breakfast.

The rooms are sparsely decorated, but are huge, clean, with hardwood floors and artistic french doors that overlook the plaza. The bathroom is enormous, with two sinks, and commode separate from the shower area.

The plaza hosts the farmer's market on Saturdays so the room maybe a bit noisy early on Saturdays during preparations for the event. On the other hand, having the opportunity to gaze at and photograph all the activity from your own window is magical.

Parking can be a problem as it is very limited. The medieval city has several parking lots not too far from the plaza. Parking close to the accommodations may present a challenge during high season.

The owner and staff at the cafe are extremely friendly and very accommodating. EVen with paying for breakfast, this locale presents great value.
