We set off with high expectation of the resort as what more can you ask for when the hotel's tagline says "The only resort with its own island in Belum-Temenggor."

First impression was good, we were greeted by the owners in their own boat. Small boat but adequate.

From a distance, it "wow". But it soon goes downhill from there.

1/ the room is so small. Though clean, the room feels claustrophobia. Only good for sleeping. There is no electricity in the resort during day time. So if you wish to sleep in after 8am, too bad. Gets very hot and stuffy as there's little ventilation due to the room size. You can't leave the doors ajar unless you wish to be a "blood donor" when you sleep.

2/ a very small bathroom is outside the room. So bring a brolly in case it rains and you need to go to the toilet. Luckily it didn't rain when we were there. Floor is slimy and leaves much to be desired.

3/ internet connectivity is extremely bad. But that is a given considering it is somewhere in the jungle. Internet connection only available at the dining area and with limited users and when the owners are around.

4/ food is nice BUT not enough for the number of people there. Meals are buffet style but with very limited portion.

Basically, I wish I didn't book the hotel in the first place.

Belum rainforest is far less famous than its counterpart Taman Negara, but is no doubt as interesting and immersive.

This was a fantastic 3D2N getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life and back into nature. Don't expect a 5* Langkawi resort, but do expect well thought out, comfortable, clean accommodations with hot showers and some really yummy food. We picked pucuk paku from the forest, saw 4 blooming Rafflesias and had a swim in the cold waterfall.

The Indonesian lady who takes care of the meals in the resort has kept birds in captivity in very very small cages in their boat house which do not have space for the birds to move around, left alone fly. Might as well kill the birds than keeping them alive in such inhuman way. Spoke to the owner, Steve Khong about it but he didn’t care much. Such contrary to what they preach to be an environmental loving resort. Hope anyone who reads this review can educate and pressure the resort to release the birds.

Apart from this, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The resort is on an island which is surround by lake and rainforests. Very rustic and back to nature.

Our group of 13 with nowhere to go except to local destinations decided to take the 3 days 2 nights package @ Myr 500 per pax offer. On the 8 Sept 20, we were at the jetty waiting to be transported to Kong Island without any expectations. Realistically we did not expect much from the price we paid.

3 days later it was time to leave and what we experienced were worth more than Myr 500 p/pax. Clean chalets with scenic balcony, daily breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner, daily conducted boat excursions, free usage of OK room and kayaks for the more adventurous. The staff were superb, friendly and accommodating. To Steve Kong, Steven, Borhan and the orang asli boatmen, thank you for a totally unexpected experience.

Hope to see you guys again.
