The hotel was spotlessly clean, the service efficient, the location was central and overlooking the river. We were only there one night, and explored the town locally. Parking over the weekend was free. But note everything but the restaurants is shut on a sunday.

Breakfast was a buffet and there was nothing more you could look for it was continental style so don't expect a full cooked meal, but the amount of food and choices were great.

The room instructions say speak to us before giving a negative review. But the German efficiency was such that I didn't dare! That said the dog was friendly, and the male owner friendly when we saw him.

We will go back to the region, but not here unfortunately. Not due to the hotel or the quality but the feeling that we were not welcome. My husband spoke german so it wasn't relating to language barriers and the lady spoke very good english for me.

When going to the Mosel area for exploration and wine-buying, location is secondary - every little town has something special, and they're only a short drive away. (Yes, best to have a car!) The fall weekend we went was a popular one, and we lucked out with the hotel Moseltor. Situated steps from the river and close to many good restaurants as well as the bridge into the bigger part of Traben-Trarbach, the hotel is clean and comfortable (great beds!).

Service is German-style efficient, and efficiently friendly (English spoken),leavened by an adorable wiener dog named Max. Breakfast is beautiful; buffet choices plus table service of fresh cold cuts and cheeses and an egg choice, prepared fresh at your request.

We parked on the street (got scolded by the lady in front of whose shop we parked, so pick your spot!) but there is paid parking around the corner (free on weekends, after 14:00 Saturday). For EUR 10 you can get a garage spot from the hotel.

Room tip: There are stairs to the rooms.

Dear AlphaFlyer!

Thank you for taking the time to review us here on Tropadvisor. We have obviously done everything right to give you a nice holiday. A reason to come back? We think so. There is still so much to discover.

With a cordial greeting from the Moselle

Called to make a booking, was asked "single or double" I responded "does not matter" (I say this because the last hotel asked the same, only to tell me they have no doubles and also quickly hung up), she hung up.

I called back, She asked the same question, same response, NO WE ARE FULLY BOOKED BYEBYE... and hung up.

Unreal,
John

Dear John! Thank you for your impressions, which we can not confirm. We are also firmly convinced that a phone call with you has not taken place so. As you write yourself you already had contact with another hotel by phone. We think this is a confusion. Around the national holiday the entire region was fully booked. A circumstance which certainly led to the fact that you could book no more room at short notice. Too bad that you take this now to the occasion to misjudge all negative hotels. What a wonderful hotel! We stayed 3 nights in Moseltor, 3 minutes walk from the main hotel, in two rooms suite. Beautiful house in Trarbach, with 4 suites, two rooms, good bed, two tv:s, silent street. If there were the kitchen, it would have been perfect. Kitcen was apparently behind the locked door.
The owners were very helpful and breakfast good. Only we should have liked to have some vegetables in the morning, but maybe it was German style. Delicous anyway, so we shall be back!

Thanks for your rating. In fact, there is also a small kitchen in our suites. We open this door when our guests book this suite as an holiday apartment without hotelservice.
Perhaps you are coming again and have a nice holiday in Traben-Trarbach? We would be very pleased.

With kind regards

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here this past May. The hotel has a separate apartment building only a few blocks away and we had the pleasure of experiencing a very cozy flat, with all the amenities of being in a hotel. The hotel is family run; George Bauer and his sister (sorry, I forgot her name, but she was very nice) seemingly do most of the chores. The apartment was very newly finished and did not lack for anything. Very tastefully decorated and appointed, we felt immediately at home. The Bauers were very accommodating and were there for any need that we had. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant one night and it was very good. Would highly recommend if you are in the area!

Room tip: Get the first floor apartment...........Uber cozy!!
