Excellent room with a balcony close to everything in this charming city. Calm and with absolutely no noise although near turist attractions. Very good breakfast table with a large selection of dishes.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony - view to car park

What makes this hotel stand out is the very friendly staff and the good location. It is just a 10 minute walk through the beautiful french garden from the city center. The rooms are very nice and there is free parking behind the hotel. Breakfast was nice but nothing special. We stayed four days in Celle and learned to appreciate the quiet pace of this old town.

Room Tip: Our room was facing the parking lot so there was no street noise.

Fantastic hotel well within a 10 mins walk of Celle town centre. Very friendly helpful staff who speak very good English. Breakfast gas more than enough choices to please anyone. I'll be staying here again when I'm next in Northern Germany.

My husband and I stayed in Celle for a week in June and chose this hotel based on price, location and online reviews. We had been to Celle once before, about ten years ago, and stayed at a different location closer to the train station. This time we wanted to stay in a different area, and we weren’t disappointed by our choice. The pros: 1) location: this is a charming little hotel right across from the French garden and near the old town center; 2) the very pleasant and helpful staff (especially Katharin Meyer, who was VERY welcoming and accommodating and went out of her way to be helpful to us – she was FANTASTIC!) who knew enough English that we weren’t fumbling for our German phrasebooks all the time (not necessary but still a nice break from the awkwardness of staying in a country where you don’t speak the language); 3) free international calls (made it easy to call and check on the dog daily!); 4) lovely little balcony overlooking the back courtyard; 5) spacious double en-suite room; 6) tasty and varied breakfast bar; 7) free Wi-fi access. The cons: 1) I had read that the hotel had laundry facilities; however, there was no self-serve (in fact, couldn’t find anything in town), and the cost of having laundry (not dry-cleaning, mind you, although that is also offered) done there was expensive (an unfortunate necessity); 2) the Wi-fi was spotty on the room’s balcony and my husband couldn’t always get a signal out there; 3) stairs (not a problem for us, but might be for others). Honestly, I think that these were the only real cons for us, and the stairs didn’t bother us (there may be a hidden elevator somewhere but I didn’t see one) and the Wi-fi was only a minor inconvenience. Located across the street from a school and from a string of businesses which includes two pizza places and a terrific ice cream shop (see my other reviews), the hotel is also located next door to a bakery and down the way from a pharmacy. A short walk or even shorter bike ride gets you to the center of town in a jiffy. Again, the staff was very accommodating, especially Katharin who went out of her way to be helpful and was probably the best hospitality representative that we have ever had the pleasure of meeting in the course of seven European trips over the years. We brought back a pizza one night to eat on the balcony and were able to get beer very reasonably at the bar, and Katharin offered up plates and utensils without us even asking. The next morning, we were able to buy postage at the front desk when I miscalculated the number of postcards I was sending home, and the hotel dropped them in the post for us, too. Katharin helped us to arrange bicycle rentals (the best way to get around town) and all in all, it was an enjoyable stay and we’d definitely stay here again. Note: if you’re arriving in town via the train, you’ll want to take a taxi to the Blumlage Hotel (around €10) as it’s too far to walk with luggage. If you’re driving in, parking is behind the hotel between Blumlage and the Neues Rathaus (which is behind the hotel on the other side of the street).

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms with a balcony.

We stayed one week at Hotel Blumlage and it was just great for us. The beds were very comfortable (2 double size frames, European style, pulled together, with comfortable, firm mattress and wonderful bedding). The bathroom was great with a convenient shower (sometimes hard to find in Europe!). The room included a nice balcony overlooking the back of the hotel We found the room to be quiet with just some noise from other travelers. The hotel is about a 7 minute walk from the old downtown of Celle and a 5 minute walk to a beautiful park and duck pond, as you exit out the back of the hotel.
Breakfast is wonderful, including the wonderful meats, breads, fresh fruit and yogurt you'd expect. Plus some hot American fare daily - eggs, bacon and sausage. Add to that a wonderful cup of coffee and on Sunday, champagne! We noted a number of locals coming in just for breakfast.
We found all of the hotel staff to be just great. We speak VERY little German but they all spoke at least some English and many of them are very skilled in English. We strongly recommend this hotel for any reason you may be visiting Celle!
We found the internet to be fine AND they have free international calls on the land line. How cool is that!?!

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms with balconies, facing the back parking lot!
