We stop for lunch after travelling in Schluchsee area.
At the rstaurant the staff gives a very good service and the foid is very tasty, specially the esparagus.
The prices are little higher
but it's worth it. Recommend to sit outside with the view to the Schluchsee.

My wife and I took both of our mothers there for a few days SPA holiday

The attention to detail and service in the hotel is superb.
From the moment you arrive to when you leave the staff are attentive, polite, knowledgable and efficient.

The rooms are spotlessly clean and decorated to a very high standard, as are the communal areas, spa, gym etc.

The food is first class, The variety and quality of the food is what you would expect in a London / Berlin top restaurant. All expertly prepared and served.

Surprisingly I found the drinks to be inexpensive, and I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive Malt Whisky selection.

The gyms is small, modern, and has everything you could resonantly expect, the spa area is modern, clean and seems to have everything someone would want ( I am no expert)

I am privileged through work to stay in a great many hotels over the years internationally, very few come up to this standard.

Some ideas of the "little things" that make a difference.

Welcome pack with lots of info
A rucksack in your room should you wish to hike
A basked in your room with all you need to go for a sauna
Ear plugs in your bedside cabinet
A small first aid kit
Etc etc etc

It is a relatively expensive hotel, But in return the quality shows.

P.S. 2 weeks previously my wife and I stayed in the nearby resort of Tittesea at the Martim hotel.
Roughly the same price as Auerhahn but significantly inferior in all aspects, Especially cleanliness !

I just spent three days at this hotel. The gastroenteritis started on the morning of day 2 but fortunately only lasted for about 12-15 hours. One member of staff at the hotel told me about a guest who had vomited in her presence. The staff member got sick with gastroenteritis the next day and experienced the same symptoms that now affected so severely this weekend originally planned as much needed relaxation. Sadly reception staff refused to accept my cancellation of meals when requested that morning (i.e. I was charged in full for lunch and dinner which, needless to say, I was unable to eat) and at first also told me that 80% of the price of a massage booked for that day would have to be paid. This decision was later revised by the manager. A friend travelling with me came down with the same virus 24 hours later. It seems this virus is making the rounds at this hotel if staff have been affected, too. Unless you’re immune to this virus, it might be best to stay away.
Another surprise was the credit card commission passed on to the hotel guest when paying!
Construction of an extension behind the hotel will commence next year. I would be surprised if this hotel informed potential guests of the building noise in advance, so better phone prior to your booking and ask for a room not affected by the 2017/18 construction.
Otherwise it’s a nice place, if overpriced. The landscape is lovely, but the lake usually gets very crowded on a good weekend day. The vegetarian buffet lunch is a great idea and the quality and variety of the foods served was good.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room (especially 2017-18, away from the construction project seemingly planned next year)

Great place to relax with a lot of emotion. To reach the highest level in relaxation, look for the emotion-suite with own whirlpool and sauna. Perfect ambiance for a happy timeout with delicous food! No business-corner with acceptable bandwith, go outside and enjoy the forrest with usefull guidance-signs. Very quiet and private place.
