We opted for a four-night stay at the Hotel Schiff, as we had read some favourable reports about it and on the whole we were not disappointed. We were lucky to find a parking space in the limited car park in front of the hotel and we were given an efficient but somewhat lukewarm welcome by the man on duty at reception.
Although the room could have done with some refurbishment, especially with regard to windows and radiators, we were very pleased with the size of it and the comfortable beds. The bathroom was also light and spacious, though the two separate hot and cold water taps were a little old-fashioned, to say the least.
Breakfast was served in a very pleasant traditional room overlooking the lake, but the coffee machine seemed to dominate proceedings, hissing and spitting, yet producing somewhat tepid milky coffee. The waitress on duty on three of the mornings was very friendly and cheerful.
We decided to have dinner at the Hotel Schiff on three evenings: the standard of food was good without being anything special and the best meal was served on the last night when we chose medaillons of pork and fresh vegetables. The staff were pleasant and efficient, especially a young waitress with glasses.
We enjoyed our break in a beautiful part of Germany and we were impressed by the list of activities and facilities, especially for families with a watersports bent!More
