Having long been fans of the lovely town of Deidesheim and its many excellent wineries, my family and I stayed the night here to break the journey home from further south. It's a small hotel garni and our room was clean, well appointed and with a nice bathroom, situated only about 500m from the town centre. Car park in front of the building but off the street. Good beds, an extra (folding) bed was available for only EUR 19. Breakfast is extra but at EUR 8,50 a pop it's decent value. We paid EUR 130 all in for 3 people. Anyone looking for an excellent meal could do much worse than visit the Georg Siben organic winery (on the Weinstr. in the middle of town). The ancient courtyard and former stables of this high quality producer house a very good restaurant with a small but extremely well chosen menu of mainly local and seasonal produce, excellent Riesling wines and friendly service. Great places to eat and stay at reasonable prices in one of Germany's loveliest wine towns with a massive concentration of world class winemakers.

Room tip: If you get a ground floor room at the front you can sit outside and also load your car directly from the room without using the main door.

We arrived on a saturday afternoon in Deidesheim and we hadn't planned where we were going to stay. It turned out it was a busy weekend and with a short supply of properties we found ourselves doorknocking to most of the hotels in town only to be turned away. Thank goodness for the Hotel Gastehaus. They could only provide us with a single room, but we were out of options. They were lovely about it and gave us extra pillows and towels. To be honest the room was really new, clean and the bed although a singe was very comfy! The next night they moved us to a double room. They could have turned us away but they didn't and were very hospitable about it. Sometimes when you are on the road for a long time you forget what day it is or are just not aware of festivals or longweekends for locals. They didn't make us feel like 'silly tourists' either which made us feel very welcome. Come Sunday night of course we practically had the place to ourselves. Breakfast was great and lots to choose from. The ladies that run the hotel are wonderful, professional people that care about the job they do. The hotel is walking distance from the action in the main square. Perfect place to stay.

Clean and modern Gasthaus 5 minutes walk from the main square. Nice breakfast. Good value for money. Nice little village with good selection of restaurants.
Friendly staff. Dogs welcomed. This village is a hidden gem for wine enthusiasts.

Room tip: Recomiendo el paseo aledaño a las vías del tren, el lago maravilloso, ideal para fotografías. El pueblo es extremadamente bonito.
