I love European hotels and don’t mind the little quirks, it is all part of the great experiences of Europe. On this occasion, with this hotel, I should have listened to my instincts when originally booking and run the other way.. fast. There were numerous issues with emails back and forth when booking including my reservation being canceled out of the blue at one point, changes in room details and offer when they resent booking information and other annoyances that were not related to any language barriers. However it was the arrival that absolutely ruined the entire time spent in this beautiful town. We had prearranged and confirmed no less than three times that the hotel driver would collect us upon arrival at the train station, however, when we arrived after a very long and tiring train trip we were left stranded at the station for 20 minutes. We had to call the hotel to remind them! When we finally arrived at the hotel there was a cursory ‘sorry’ but no real concern, not even an offer to show us to our rooms or have our luggage sent up to ease the upset. When we arrived at the room I then fell flat on my face upon entering as the floor between the hall and the doorway was uneven with no warning or obvious change. To make matters worse the room was requested six months prior to have a view of the Alps, and whilst I understand that this is not always possible, I suspect I was given a room with the absolute worst view in the hotel overlooking a lane and drainage. I have never said this before in a review but honestly do not stay at this hotel. There are so many nicer hotels in this beautiful town.

we only spent one night on the way trough the mountains, but it was well worth it. We had a huge and comfortable room. The view over the mountains was nice and it was very quiet. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and the public restaurant on the ground floor was also very good. The staff was friendly and very helpful and they did offer a shuttle service to take us back to the train station.

The hotel is located amidst the stores and restaurants on the main street of Pontresina, up the hill from the train station. They have a shuttle van to the station, which is a nice touch. Our room was clean and comfortable, with good water pressure. The front desk person kindly got us a kettle for tea, but no tea bags. (There is a pharmacy next door with a very pleasant pharmacist and nice selection of herbal tea; the mint tea was lovely.) The breakfast room is bright and sunny, with plenty of choices on the breakfast buffet. There is a hotel restaurant, but we ate elsewhere. The ground floor restaurant accessed from the lobby is not part of the hotel. Although hours were posted for the front desk to be open, no one was there at the indicated time in the morning when we tried to check out. It would have been no big deal, but we needed to catch a train, so our breakfast was cut short due to the wait. Some of the front desk and breakfast staff were unfriendly and generally treated the guests as annoying, but other staff were quite nice.

In April during our Swiss trip we stayed here for a couple of nights in the Junior comfort suite. The Check-in was quick and the staff quite attentive and helpful. The room was nice and cozy with amazing views around.
The hotel is some distance away from the train station but walkable.
The breakfast and food was decent
