At the end of a beautiful hike or horse-drawn coach ride is a historic hotel in a lovely setting. A tight terrace for lunch or some nice restaurant rooms inside. Food is good (and you'll bring a decent appetite after the trip) but the portions are really small- even our 10 year old was hungry after a grown up portion of Rösti. Very good fondue but order from the start 1 ½ helpings per adult. Swiss prices...

The hotel can only be reached by either its own minibus service, on foot or by horse and carriage. The hotel is surrounded by mountains so nearly all the rooms have a spectacular view. its remote location do mean you have to plan your arrival in and departure from Sils Maria to coincide with the hotel minibus departures. The remoteness of the hotel also means that there are not choices at dinner if you are on half-board so if you have any particular likes or dislikes or dietary requirements I would adivise giving the hotel advanced notice. The food was so good I had second helpings of the main course so I had no worries. The service at the hotel was attentive. Also, if you don't wnat to go hiking there is a special terraxe for guests from where you can just admire the scenery.

Room Tip: The Wifi is a little temperamental so the nearer the office you are the better if you want to stay connected

The Hotel Fex is a gem hidden close to the edge of the world! It is actually a secret worth keeping, then again they deserve that more people find this beautiful little hotel at the end of the Fex Tal!

We were lucky enough to haven chosen the Hotel Fex for our wedding and we had an amazing time. Beatrice and her team were fantastic in helping us organize everything in advance and made us feel more than welcome whilst we were there!

The attention to detail in this remote location is remarkable, the kitchen excellent, the rooms and restaurant cozy and charming and the service warm, friendly and efficient.

We had an unforgettable time at the Hotel Fex and can only highly recommend it to everybody - in Winter or in Summer. Once you have been there you definitely want to come back - we definitely can't wait for our next visit!

This house is amazing. Set in beautiful surroundings, old, historic building. Very nice renovated. You can directly access the crosscountry ski, snow shoe, ski touring and winter hiking trails. Very remote, approximately 15 min ride from Sils, where a free hotel shuttle service pics you up. You could also walk in 1 hour to the hotel. Food is excellent (except of the soups) and the owner makes a very warm welcome. Our room was renovated. They are small, but since you are either outside, or dining, this is well enough. Staff is funny and very helpful. We will come back!

In January, my husband, daughter and I spent four wonderful days in the Hotel Fex. We are keen cross-country skiers and the Fex Valley had been recommended to us. We found the local trails were as good as any we have experienced, particularly the one from the hotel to the head of the valley. After a day in the snow, returning to such a cosy, friendly hotel was a real treat, and the idea of the delicious dinner to come increased one's general feeling of well-being. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent, as were the local wines. We understand the flowers are exceptional at the end of June. On all counts, we will be returning.

Room Tip: From the back, you get a good view not only of the mountains, but of yaks, alpacas and Aberdeen Angus cattle.
