We have three kids: one 5 year old and two 3 year olds. This was our first family vacation and it was definitely the right choice. The kids loved the Sesame Street Characters, The Shows, the Waterparks. Although the kids camp runs all day we chose to put them in just for the morning to give us some time to play tennis, snorkel, read, get a massage. The afternoons and evenings were family time. Babysitting is $10/hr and well worth it for us for two evenings. It gave us the odd meal where someone wasn't spilling their milk, asking to go to the bathroom etc.

It's not often you leave a resort thinking of particular waiters (Jomo, Riccardo) or childcare workers (too many to name) but at Boscobel you do. The staff really go above and beyond. I encourage the resort to not be afraid of authentic Jamaican food (conch, rooster etc) and other such foods I know the locals are proud of.

For the GM of the resort (who I know reads these posts as any good GM should) my recommendations would be to get rid of the leaf blowers (they're not good for the environment and are so noisy - just break out the rakes and brooms!) and if possible invest in a physical upgrade of your main building. If you, resort goer, are expecting five star accommodations don't. There is wall damage, paint chipping, and the water pressure is awful but you'll be so busy relaxing and having fun you won't really notice it.

Fortunate for us that the resort was only 60% full so no one was elbowing for poolside chairs and buffet lines. The week following us was apparently 80% full so not sure how that effects the trip.

Tips:
Don't travel in and out of Montego Bay Airport on a Saturday. Security line was 2 hours long and this happens every Saturday.
Do try the Jamaican Patties at the BBQ by the pools. Delish, we had them every day.
Do eat the buffet on Jamaica night (Thursday).
Don't miss the George Washington Marching band on parade night. A real highlight for us.

Room Tip: We had the one bedroom ocean view on the top floor. Perfect for us space wise and view wise. Nice d...

The travellers: 2 families. 4 adults, 3, 4, 5 year old children
From: Ontario
Tour Operator: Air Canada for one family West Jet for the other

We loved our experience at this resort. From the moment we arrived we felt genuinely welcomed. Every staff member at this resort smiles, interacts and wants to ensure their guests are having a good time.

This resort is perfect for families with children too young for the average resort's Kids Club. We had the opportunity to have an adults dinner while the kids watched a movie under the stars and had popcorn.

If you are looking for a long sandy beach, this resort is not for you. If you are looking for a safe, private beach with lots of shade that encourages interaction among guests, where kids will play together and share their toys even if they don't know each other, then this is for you. The beach has plenty of palapas and lounge chairs, and lovely soft, white, powdery sand. The ocean is calm and clear and great for young children.

The water sports staff offer free snorkelling trips several times a day, and for certified scuba divers, you can't beat free diving!

The resort is built into the hills - so be prepared to walk a lot of stairs. This is good for you, and even enjoyable, as the views of the ocean as you climb up are spectacular. For those not able, there is an elevator (the elevator does need some renewing!).

The Lanai rooms are awesome. Located on the beach level and 2nd and 3rd level - they are well located to the beach and provide great views of the ocean.

The food is quite good. The main buffet offers a lot of variety. Arizona's is in the best location - built over the water. It takes a while to get your food, but it is quite good and nice to linger - as long as the kids aren't ravenous. Eleanor's is excellent and offers the fanciest Caribbean food I've tried. Jerk shrimp? MMM! The Venetian offers a nice ambience and good Italian food. The snack bar is great for a fast food fix, and offers good (but not very spicy) jerk chicken.

We stayed in a Concierge level room. The rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated, in the Beaches/Sandals style with mahogany furniture and deliciously comfy bedlinens. Mini bar restocked regularly, and you can request what you like. Make sure to ask for the Ovaltine cookies!

The pools and water park offer endless opportunities for fun for all ages. Our kids loved the whirlpool because the water was warm but not hot and it was the right size for the three of them to splash around in.

I could go on and on about this resort. You get what you pay for in life and this resort offers exceptional quality, value and service for the price.

The key differentiating feature here however, is the staff. Honestly, everyone deserves kudos for their commitment and dedication to ensuring their guests are having fun. Here are a few that really surpassed our expectations:

Deveen - Beach Waiter

Ripton - low key and very gracious

Wassasi - the piano player who dealt well with an out of tune piano and amazed us as he played song after song without sheet music and sang every word. He's not the greatest singer - but it didn't matter because he was having fun!

Geoffrey - bartender at the El Dorado who was so interesting to talk to.

Alvoy & Jomo - Arizona's staff who went truly above and beyond. While enjoying some of the cookies for dessert at lunch, Jomo brought out the chef to show her how much we were enjoying the almond clusters and macaroons. Jokingly, we suggested that they would be great with a pot of coffee at breakfast. Jomo and Alvoy asked our room numbers and what time we'd like it. We never expected that they were serious but the following morning at 8:30, there they were with hot coffee and fresh cookies!

Adrian - water sports. My brother and sister-in-law really hit it off with Adrian and he was great with the kids.

Bruce, Daniel and Milton - Arizona's took care of us and made the evening special.

If you want great service and an enjoyable stay, look no further!

Room Tip: Splurge and get a Lanai suite - it's worth it!

This was our first Beaches vacation so we were very skeptical after reading some of the reviews before we left however we were very pleased with our experience. The staff are super accommodating and eager to ensure all your concerns are looked into. The resort feels very safe as it isn't huge and the kids can easily find their way around. Mike at the pool was so good about ensuring we all had chairs together on the pool deck every day, if you go introduce yourself they are all awesome. Our housekeeper Paula was so kind and genuinely seemed to care that we had found things we had been inquiring about. The list of great staff goes on and on, you can 't help but love their energy and huge smiles.
We only did one excursion, a catamaran to Dunn's River Falls that includes snorkeling and we would definitely recommend it. Our boys are 8 &10 and one of them was really scared to snorkel but a crew member, Joseph, was incredible and in the end we all loved it!! Not only did he take tons of time making our son comfortable, he would get the fish to come up to our boys. Once back on the boat he had everyone up dancing. The only danger is how much you might drink as he serves drinks balanced on his head...so how do you ever say no?
We found the kids club to be a bit frustrating as it was geared towards very young children and our boys felt it was focused on 4 year olds and did not find it appealing. I think it would be better to change the age range a bit to accommodate this age group. Fortunately we met a wonderful family from England and the kids and adults all got along great. We were very sad to leave but are looking forward to our next Beaches vacation.

Room Tip: We had top floor room on east wing really nice central location to main pool water park tennis court...

My husband and I and 3 sons, (ages 17,15 and 9) had an amazing vacation at Beaches Boscobel. From the comfortable lounge at the airport to the cold Rum Punch upon arriving the Resort, all of our needs were met with a smile. The Players, Jason, Ainsley, Monique, and Rachone kept us happily entertained the entire week. Their manager (cannot remember his name!! so sorry!) was key in getting the guests involved and laughing. The food in all the restaurants was delicious and varied. The themed nights were great! We never got tired of any of the dishes. Our room was always clean and well stocked with waters, soda and juices. It was beautiful and comfortable with all five of us staying in one room! My youngest son LOVED the kids camp "Survivors". He wanted to go everyday and never had any complaints...only rave after rave. The "counselors" Michele, Lola and Shavaun were so kind and loving. My son was close to tears leaving them and the friends he made. He did actually cry himself to sleep the first night we were home. My older sons made friends they now keep in touch with and plan on getting together again. The photographer Neven and Isheka in Snapshots went over and beyond to make sure we had exactly what we wanted. Greg, Don and Claude (scuba instructor, hope the name is right!) at the water sports were awesome setting us up with whatever activity we wanted to play. (and there are a lot to choose from!) The Resort was immaculate and lush with beautiful trees, plants and flowers. It truly will be a trip we will talk about for years and years to come and we have numerous treasured memories we will hold close forever.

Room Tip: We did not use Concierge level rooms. We had the Luxury Honeymoon Suite and were very happy. Did not...
