Owner description: Located beside the suburbs of Kew and Fairfield, Yarra Bend Park is the largest area of natural bushland near the heart of Melbourne. The park has a rich Aboriginal history, and once included the locations of the Yarra Aboriginal Protectorate Station and the Merri Creek Aboriginal School. Explore the park by foot or by bike, go boating on the river and enjoy superb views of the city skyline. Pleasant picnic areas, barbecues, rotundas and playgrounds make it popular with families. Studley Park Boathouse offers visitors the opportunity to dine in the restaurant, relax over a lighter meal in the indoor/outdoor café, or have a light snack from the kiosk while enjoying sweeping views of the Yarra River and natural bushland. You can also hire row boats, canoes and kayaks from the oldest operating boathouse in Australia. The park's best known geological feature is Dights Falls. Dights Falls is an artificial weir built on a natural rock bar across the Yarra. The weir was built in the 1840s to provide water to the 'Ceres' flour mill, one of the first in Victoria. The falls were later to become known as Dights Falls after the owners of the mill. The Yarra Bend Golf Course provides picturesque views of the river and rocky cliffs. Well known as one of Melbourne's premier public courses for years, Yarra Bend features high quality greens and sculptured fairways.

This is a wonderful local resource. One of the great park areas of Melbourne. A huge well kept park with something for everyone including sporting fields, picnic areas, walking areas etc. just a great place to wander or sit with or without a dog with you. There's something for everyone here. A magnificent park.

This is a remarkable piece of bushland so close to a large city. Shame the Yarra is so disgustingly dirty through this area. Plastic bags hanging from trees is not a good look - nor are the mounds of dog poo plastic bags dumped along the way. Locals need to learn to value this asset.

Love the history of the boat house area and the park has an amphitheater which is enjoyable. The park is lovely for a quiet picnic and also for exercising.

The park is a great place to sit down chill and relax.... or be active and ride a bike or hire a boat. On the banks of the Yarra River, the water is calm and nice to walk around. With suspension bridges and trails to walk around and with Picnic chairs and tables. It's a great place to bring the little ones

A leisurely walk though the trees and by the water. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the Australian landscape in an urban area.
