Well, beware! This is one lasting side-effects of a vacation that a place gently descends upon you. I visited Siragao early this year and came across the Wave Cave by accident. It was raining hard, and my motorbike broke down close to the lodge. The owner came out, introduced himself, extended his help and invited myself for a cup of coffee while waiting for the torrential down pour to stop but it didn’t, it got worst, heavy clouds rolled in and was getting dark so I decided to spend the night here. The staffs are very accommodating and the place is nice and clean, it gave me a feeling of comfort, warmth and relaxation, it is well maintained. The rooms are simple, about six or seven of them, bed is clean and comfortable, rooms have air-conditioning and ensuite bathrooms and warm showers which is what I needed at the end of a long day driving and exploring the island. And best of all, they are very affordable! Beers are cold here, food menu is somewhat limited but if you tell the staff in advance, they can make it happen. The lodge is eco-friendly, plastic bags are discouraged and travelers are encouraged to take back any non-biodegradable items they have brought with them, a thought in my opinion, was non-existent on the island. It is ideally situated to offer accessibility to areas, world renowned surfing destination Cloud 9 and the fine white beaches of Malinao. The next morning after a good night’s sleep and a delicious home made breakfast of Philipino sausage, warm buns, boiled native eggs and a slice of fresh mango, served by Franklin & Panya, I ventured away from the comfort of the lodge and continued to enjoy the pristine and captivating beauty of Siargao Island. Thank you Wave Cave for the extra ordinary example of customer service! I will be back.
