If you want to ever eat conch salad again, don't get it here because this is the BEST I've had and every other conch salad will be a disappointment.

We stopped here because we heard great things about it and we weren't let down. Service was great and friendly.

We had a cup of conch salad but we should have gotten a bowl because it was so fantastic. Also got the wahoo and cracked conch. The cracked conch was good but not as good as the conch salad. Wahoo was AWESOME!!!! Our friend got the hogfish. I tried a bite and was amazed. SO good!!!

In regard to covid precautions, we had no problems. We wore our masks until we sat down and got our drinks. Others did the same, including the employees.

Some other tourists recommended Max’s when we met them at Dean’s Blue Hole...what a great tip! Quaint, quintessentially Bahamian and the food was excellent! Loved sitting out in the covered garden, and still got the breeze. We had the Cuban Sandwich (which was more like a quesadilla), and excellent. Grouper fingers were delicious, but only three small fingers, so if you’re hungry, order some fries or rice & peas on the side. Elaine, our Server/Hostess/Manager was very attentive and seemed to be providing great service to everyone.

When we (a party of 4) arrived, nobody sitting at the hut wore a mask. As we got out of our car, the hostess put on a translucent face shield. I asked if masks were required, as the govt. had stated masks are not required at out-door eateries, moreover, it is impossible to dine with a mask on. The hostess rudely said "yes masks are required!" I pointed out that everyone (an older crowd) sitting at the hut were not wearing masks. She told us to get a mask if we wished to dine there. As we walked away to our cars upset, she shouted, "but that's the Law!"

Very disappointing experience.

We loved Max’s so much we went back twice! The conch salad is delicious, as is the jerk chicken and the hogfish Parmesan. Sit at the bar and mingle with tourists and locals!

Max's is the "Cheers" of Long Island! Max leads a cast of characters that make you feel right at home. Elaine is a great bartender and a super nice person. This was our "go-to spot" during our week on the island.
