This spot was a long drive of 1.5 hours for us from our hotel, but the trip was well worth it for the uniqueness of the site.
We brought a cooler with us and spent around 4 hours here, walking the tranquil beach, sitting and gazing into the depths of the Blue Hole - just taking in the amazing sight in general.
One thing to note... free divers from all over the world come here to practice their sport (only a few when we were there), and so we were careful to give them space and not interrupt their concentration as they dove from the platform in the middle of the deepest portion. They were there for only part of our stay, and two more came just as we were getting ready to leave. It's pretty fascinating to think HOW deep they will go.
The whole experience was pretty fabulous, and I recommend a trip there - just make sure you have plenty of cold drinks, snacks and sunscreen, and please do clean up after yourself as they have worked hard to keep the area free of the garbage that was formerly a problem there.
Enjoy!

The blue hole was cool but have you seen the beach? It was perfection. We were blown away by the natural beauty of the place. We visited in March so the water was a tiny bit too chilly to swim but the weather was perfect and the beach was sublime. HIGHLY recommend.

Spectacular. And a great site for a snorkel. Just such a pity about all the plastic...so sad! Nice beach but a bit of a trek to drive there. I wouldn’t recommend walking. Just about doable in a normal car. Worth it though when you get there.

First of all, so glad I did not choose a rental in the area of Deans. A Canadian we met, who lives on the island in the winter, called it “sketchy.” It’s safe, but a bit run down. Hole is fascinating, and we did snorkel. Saw some Sergeant-majors, a tang or two. March can be windy and the past few days’ weather made the water a bit murky. As with many beaches on the Atlantic side (Lochabar) there is trash washed up from the ocean. It’s probably from Cuba is my guess. It sort of creeped me out that people died in the hole either while free diving or because they couldn’t swim. Bottom line: we loved Long Island, and Dean’s Blue hole is worth seeing, but I’ve had better snorkeling experiences in other parts of the Caribbean.
