We stayed for one night, never again. We were asked to go down for dinner at 7.00pm because the was a big party in at 6.00pm. On arrival in the bar we were told abruptly, 'Chef is not taking any more orders until 7.30pm, you can sit over there. My husband went to the bar for drinks and asked for a globe for my G&T, he was refused, being told that they only had a few and they might walk. He was also asked to show our room key, as they can't be too careful! The food was adequate, but slopped on the plate like a mixed up mess. We were rung up in our room at 10.30pm to ask if we had put a meal on our room?!!!
The room was adequate, the secondary glazing was impossible to open and the gap between the window and glazing was filthy. Towels were fit for a midget.
Reception has a bell for service, somebody shouts from the bar 'In here'

Car parking a nightmare, door locked/unlocked randomly.

This hotel needs some management and the female staff need to acquire manners.

Room Tip: Lots of street noise on the front

Lovely old style hotel with recently modernised bathrooms to rooms
Great staff and lovely food on the menu.
Situated in the town and so near everything.
Only five minutes from the train and bus stations

We stayed on a Sunday and Monday night in January, so the town was very quiet. We were in a ground floor room in an annex at the back - a very spacious and comfortable room with a good bathroom, very clean. The only downside is that we had to go outside and round to the front of the hotel to access the restaurant for breakfast and the bar in the evening. But being at the back meant that it was very very quiet and peaceful at night.
When we stayed, all the staff members we met were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and also there was a lot of choice, including vegetarian. However, I think the quality of the tea and coffee could be much improved.
Others have commented on how tight the car park entrance is and how awkward to manoeuvre in the car park, but there isn't much they can do about that in an old coaching in on the main street.
We had no problem with the wifi - we connected when we were in the bar on our first evening and still had the connection in our room
Decor is a bit tired and old fashioned, but generally we felt our stay was comfortable and very good value for money.

Room Tip: Our twin room in the back annexe was very quiet and also had a good disabled access bathroom.

We stayed New Year's Eve and left the following morning. Staff were unhelpful and miserable. They really need some serious customer service training. Arrived in the dining room for breakfast at exactly 9.30am to be told that the kitchen had closed. We asked if we could have an egg or beans on toast which was refused. We grudgingly received some toast to go with our cereal. Finishing cooked breakfasts at 9.30am is early for any hotel but on New Years Day is ridiculous. The rooms were well appointed, very clean and the location great but the staff and management very disappointing. We won't visit again.

Very rude staff bedrooms need updating the only hotel I have ever stayed in that expects you to check out at 10.30 car park facilities very tight if you have a bigger car than a mini would not recommend this place at all.
