I have a water colour painting of the O'Hara house which is now the grammar School in Port Stewart. This painting hung in my mothers house as far back as I remember ( I am 82 years old) . As a child I always called the painting "MY CASTLE. I went to Ireland to "SEE MY CASTLE". It was a thrill I will always remember. The Principal of the school took us through the entire building. It was built by Henry O'Hara for his family. Wonderful day.

Beautiful beach, definitely visit!!!! It’s much nicer than some beaches on the Mediterranean. Beach is always spotless & national trust staff are very friendly. Very scenic & great for some body boarding (according to my husband) when the waves are good.

We walked to the strand from Portstewart, and were amazed at how beautiful the beach looked. It was an overcast day, so not many cars about. Just be aware we did see quite a few large jellyfish on the sand near to the sea, which put us off paddling.

Miles of golden sand - you can drive on to the beach which is handy for families. Harry's Shack right by the beach has excellent food too. Very windy day so waves too high to swim but would love to go back!!

We are members of National Trust and visit here frequently..however when we have went to the dog free area this summer we have found that prople are not adhering to this at all. As for the covered outdoor area at Harrys Shack it is like a dog kennel!! Would certainly not eat or drink there!!! There are miles of sand for dogs and their owners why cant they leave one we spot be for young children
