Widbrook Grange immediately strikes you as being a relaxed and intimate place for a wedding event and all the details planned by the hotel worked towards us having an enjoyable and successful afternoon.
Our room was well appointed, especially the bathroom, (The Piggery) and the gardens around the hotel and various outbuilding were attractive and interestingly planted with unusual shrubs.
The ceremony itself took place in a comfortable and stylish room. The following drinks (delicious Pyms) and tasty canapés, served on the lawn, provided the photo-opportunity, and the dinner in the restaurant continued with creative flair.
All the staff we met were friendly and helpful.
This is a slightly quirky venue, but in the best sense, with many eye-catching details.
Thank you.

This was a lovely hotel with amazing staff. There was always a friendly face at reception to supply fresh milk and offer any help needed.
Attilla made our family afternoon tea very special, being very attentive to the needs of all our guests. The splendid tea was set up in the conservatory for 10 of us and we were able to have this as our own private space.
The children loved exploring the garden with it's quirky full sized metal sculptures and hifden giant chess and ''driving' tbe milk float and tractor.
The food- breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea was of exceptional quality.
Our room was well appointed and having a caffatiere with delicious filter coffee was a real treat.
We understand that the owners are planning a dedicated spa treatment area but oir room was large enoigh for the lovely Gem to bring the equipment necessary to carry out expert treatments.
The gin bar was well stocked and the staff were very knowledgeable about the tonics and herbs/ fruits to accompany each one.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet rural get-away with a touch of luxury.

We wanted to holiday with our dog and this was the ideal place to go.We were made really welcome by all the staff, everyone we met made time to have a chat. Our room was very comfortable, plenty of space and well equipped. The bathroom was disabled friendly, Lots of room to move about. One quibble,a shelf or two in the bathroom would have made life easier .
Breakfasts were very good , but I wasn’t too keen on the evening meals. Not the fault of the staff, but I am a fussy eater and the food not to my taste. My daughter had no problems with the food, enjoying her meals.

Room tip: We had a room in the ‘stables’ quiet and easily accessible.

We just came back from a 3 night stay at Widbrook Grange. I think it is a good hotel with the potential to be great, but it falls short from being outstanding! Here is my honest and fair review with some constructive criticism.
Positive points:Hotel Decor: It is excellent! A combination of rustic, quirky and unusual that has been done with taste!
Comfort: The rooms are big, the bed is comfortable and the room facilities are very good, as well as the tea/coffee making facilities that include biscuits and bottles of water. Each room is also themed, which adds a bit of interest and fun! Staff: The staff are all very friendly and helpful and seem to ve very conscientious too.
Things to improve (not many but they will make a big difference):
Breakfast: It is included, they also claim to use local fresh produce. However, the Full English breakfast failed to impress me, apart from the black pudding which was delicious! The salmon and scrambled eggs option was very tasty. They do offer a variety of cereals, yogurt, fruit juice and croissants. However, the service at breakfast was slow each and every time! Had to wait an average of half an hour for my cooked breakfast and toast to come to the table! This was not a reflection on the waiting staff not doing their job, as they were certainly not standing around but rather rushed off their feet. I do think they could do with at least an extra waitress/waiter and possibly add extra staff in the kitchen too. VEREDICT:The hotel is very expensive, a price I was happy to pay for an outstanding hotel but I didn't find it outstanding, some attetion to detail such as half the toast being a bit burnt, there not being spare toilet rolls in the room and the website promising a free gin when you sing up which I never got. However, the hotel is still very good and for that I have given it 4 stars. We did not sample the lunch or dinner menu, nor did we manage to get to the pool, so I cannot comment on those.

We are terribly sorry to learn that you experienced a delay during breakfast service, we hope you can understand that sometimes during the Summer holidays the hotel can become busier and therefore guests might be a slightly longer wait than usual. We booked one night at Widbrook Grange for a luxury night away from our young children. We payed for a small room in the hotel which was comfortable and clean (although on arrival, the overpowering smell of manure was off putting - although we get that we are in the countryside!) At 4.30am, the fire alarm went off. The alarm was just above our bed and gave us the shock of our lives. After failing to get back to sleep, we went to breakfast to find the breakfast room full to capacity.. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our breakfast to arrive (various food items had also run out). The two waitresses seemed quite stressed as well. When we came to pay, we asked about the fire alarm. Perhaps it was a guest smoking in their room? No - it was a fault in the system. I have to admit that if I worked in hospitality (and that a good night's sleep would be a top priority), there was no offer of a good will gesture apart from a fairly casual apology. Disappointing.
