Im Corsham local and hadn't visited The Methuen for a few years. It was a pleasant surprise to hear that it had been taken over and had a refresh as I personally thought it needed a change.

There are two menus to choose from; either a classic bar/pub menu (burgers, steak, fish and chips etc.) or an 'a la carte' which is safe to say didn't disappoint. The a la carte menu is experimental, interesting and all together a well put together thought out menu. This was a delight to see in a pub in Corsham!

I started with scallops which were fresh and cooked to perfection, along with cauliflower and curry powder which was a combination I hadn't been familiar with however tasted amazing.
For desert the deconstructed Banoffee pie was one of the best deserts I have ever eaten and was the icing on the cake to our meal. The salted caramel panna cotta along with brûléed banana was outstanding and is something I would definitely recommend leaving room for!

Altogether the food demonstrated that the chefs at the Methuen are extremely talented and not shy when it comes to trying out new dishes.
The only down side I would say about the experience is that the waiting staff need to up their game and show more understanding and enthusiasm towards the food.

I visited the Methuen Arms for dinner with friends last week having heard about it's very good reputation, new ownership and chefs, and I wasn't disapointed. The food is fantastic; extremely delicious and a lot of effort is put in to making it look just as good.

There is the choice of a typical bar menu and an an 'a la carte' menu so it offers something for everyone. I chose off the 'a la carte' menu: the Wood Pigeon starter, followed by the Pork Fillet main and the Chocolate Delice for dessert....Wow! Fantastic flavour combinations and textures and the presentation on the plate is well thought out. You almost don't want to destroy each work of art that is placed infront of you.

The head chef and team are obviously extremely talented and passionate about creating interesting and special dishes. I can't recommend it highly enough. If you want a good meal that you just wouldn't be able to recreate yourself at home, in a beautiful pub setting, then this is the place to go. The service needs a bit of attention to catch up with the high standard of the kitchen, but overall it is fantastic, and it's right on my doorstep...I'll be back!

We were looking for a nice pub meal and entered this delightful pub with its great ambiance. Our meals were great and service excellent however it was a bit pricey.

Went as a table of 8 last Sunday. The food was fantastic, it has really come on leaps and bounds recently.
The atmosphere and feel of this place is really great. I can't recommend it enough.
Service needs a little work, but I'm sure they will get it right soon enough.

We gathered here for a weekend lunch, the fabulous weather made eating in the courtyard a must. The sandwich menu enticed me, others enjoyed the 'a la carte' all of us found a choice to please. Food was good shame the bread order on the sandwiches was incorrect (brown instead of white & ciabatta instead of brown) but not to worry as the contents were really tasty. The others felt their meal was a bit on the small size with the need to order chips to supplement their dish. The puddings were delicious though.
All the food arrived together, then the cutlery and after several requests, the napkins. All in all a lovely setting, good company and ok food.

Dear Hillary,

We are so glad you had a great visit with us and enjoyed the variety of menu choices.

It is disappointing to know the small details were missed by our staff. This may be due to our fairly new team, we are still working on further training for our new members.

We hope to see you again in the near future.

Kindest regards,
The Methuen Arms Team
