Good sized room and facilities, great location in the centre of Bakewell. The breakfasts were of good quality and the Eastern european lady who served us at breakfast was incredibly efficient and polite.Unfortunately the Manager did lack the friendly and welcoming approach, and I agree with previous comments re the 'free' car park as it is very small and we had to pay to park in the public carpark on Saturday night due to lack of space at the Peacock .Compliments to the Chef and kitchen staff as we had dinner in the Peacock on two nights and the meals were so fresh and tasty,we could not have asked for better quality and choice. I would heartily recommend the Peacock for food and as a convenient place to stay in Bakewell,it's a shame that the Management let the Peacock down but it's food, location, and rooms still make it worth a visit.

We spent two nights at The Peacock. The room was acceptable.Found breakfast to be rushed as the cooked breakfast was brought before we had finished our cereal! Also the choice was poor, you either had cereal or toast.Manager had BIG attitude problems over parking issues as you will probably will get blocked in during your stay.So if you tell the manager any concern please beware of his attitude.

thank you for your review of the peacock!

first i would like to correct you on a couple of points re; breakfast...

breakfast was not rushed...you were late, and we have to prepare for the remainder of the day, and we still served you the full english with not a choice of cereal or toast, but everything on the menu,

orange juice or cranberrry
toast with jam, marmalade or honey
cereal, 5 choices
a full cooked breakfast with other options ie scrambeled egg etc.
and as much tea or coffee you could drink

please explain to me how that is a poor choice!!!

with the parking issue, unfortunately i am not a security guard, and i cannot possibly monitor parking in our car park, it is quite impossible, the fact that we are the only pub in bakewell that offers parking is a blessing, and if drivers parked in the designated lanes there would be no problem, please advise how you would deal with an issue such as this....impossible!

my attitude is to call a spade a spade whether they are welsh or other, and if you can not handle honesty and and forthright views, so be it, and hiding behind screens such as computer keyboards is probably one of the reasons our country is in such as mess and no doubt your son is one who spends a great part of his life on face book etc, where you can mutter under your breathe and hopefully get away with it, but not with graham webb, he will look you in the eye and deal with your problems on face value.

thank you for your time, and next time you comment on the peacock, please get the facts right!!!!

We had a great stay here- I can't understand how anybody could complain about the staff. Would definitely recommend for a couple of days.

Only used this place as a pub as had been there a couple of years previously and had found it very welcoming. However, having been back a few times, have found the bar staff, particularly the barman, offensive and will not be going back. It's shame because it's still a lovely pub, but I refuse to give my money in return for such rudeness.

mmn....it's a pity you carn't, or wouldn't discuss your issue at the time in person, but feel to vent your view behind a shielded curtain is the correct way to illustrate your point of view.
if we all pontificated by text, internet or dare i say facebook....i feel the world would be full of characterless, non de scrip shallow personel with no personality.
better to have an honest interpretation of oneself, with integrity and guts than to hide behind blind words.....
