This is a great bar/restaurant with an excellent atmosphere. It was recommended by some locals in Kenmare which says it all particularly as there are so many bars to choose from. The food was just right and the staff were all extremely friendly. I would highly recommend calling in here when visiting Kenmare.

If we were to review PF McCarthy's based upon our first visit, we would give it a Poor as we really didn't enjoy their chowder at lunch. We decided to give it another try for dinner because our waitress was so great and they were having a jam session that night. We weren't too hungry, so each of us ordered the fried shrimp appetizer, which they call shrimp scampi. Music was good, but didn't last long enough for us! Wish we could recall our waitress' name--she made the place (had glasses and recommended the optician to repair mine--if the owner is reading this)

Stopped in for dinner on a Wednesday at 530pm & were seated promptly. Nice place with bar, indoor & outdoor seating in the beer garden. The staff is so friendly & accommodating. We ordered the seafood stew & burger. The stew was delicious. A creamy soup with loads of different types of fresh fish. The burger was very tasty as well. However apparently a new law does not allow the burger to be cooked medium, more closer to well. After dinner we left to tour the historic sites in town & returned around 730pm for the live traditional Irish music. Fantastic authentic Irish Music. Very talented set of musicians. A real treat to experience. We enjoyed some cocktails from the bar. I was ecstatic to see my new favorite Gin-Gunpowder.

Classic little pub with lots of interior visual interest. Cheerful friendly service. Excellent lamb shank. A nice pause when traveling the Ring of Kerry.
