I think some of the negative reviews are very unfair. I stayed for five nights at a very busy time of the year and paid only 40 euros per night. Other b&bs in Kinsale were charging at least double for similar facilities. The room was small but adequate for a short stay and the breakfasts were grand. Margaret, the owner, was very welcoming and waited up for me even though I arrived at 11.15pm from the airport. She is obviously very hardworking and did all the breakfasts single handedly. The Location of Ashgrove is excellent. Just a short walk from the town centre. Summary ... Ideal for the single traveller. It is what it is and I would definitely stay there again

Pros: Breakfast was very good. A short walk from downtown Kinsale and most points of interest.

Cons: The room, while not filthy, was certainly not as clean as expected in a good B & B. The owner did not welcome us - a young man showed us our room, disappeared quickly and explained very little about the B & B. The room was small with the sink in the bedroom area and the shower and toilet were shoehorned into what was obviously a closet in a former life. The only time we saw the owner was at breakfast and she was far from welcoming. If other options are available, I wouldn't choose this B & B again.

Quiet and cozy place in beautiful Kinsale. Very accommodating and friendly hosts. Great breakfast. Comfortable and well appointed rooms. Minutes from the heart of Kinsale but gives you the feel of living in a quiet residential area.

Lovely place to stay after a long drive from Dublin. We stayed 2 nights and Margaret Kelly was the fine host who greeted us on arrival. A very homely atmosphere fitting for the town with all its history.

Stayed here on our visit to Kinsale. Convenient, quiet location to pubs and restaurants (walking distance).
Wonderful breakfast and coffee but room was small and there was a slight smell of mildew. Host was friendly.
