When recently in Clifden, a group of 7 of us, called into this hotel on a Sunday afternoon for food and coffee/tea. We were told that the bar was shut and not offered any alternative place to sit and eat. We were amazed that a hotel in a tourist destination in Ireland would not be serving food/drinks on a Sunday afternoon in August. We definitely were not made to feel welcome. Its a shame, as we were keen to see what the hotel was like as we are planning a weekend away in Clifden next year and were thinking of booking this hotel.

Nice comfortable hotel. Could do with decorating upgrade its all a bit dated. No tissues in bathroom which should b a must. Also wasn't told on booking that street parking only available which wasn't a big deal but unexpected on arrival. Otherwise lovely and so central.

We visit Clifden every year for a family get together .
Each time we stay in Foyles hotel, where we get a really warm welcome .
It is a family friendly hotel, where excellent food, drink and music is guaranteed.
We have 4 grandchildren ranging in age from 8 years to 9 months. Family rooms are available on request.
We have booked our 2018 trip already.

Room Tip: Rooms at rear of hotel are quiet

This was the second night of our trip to Clifton. The first night was a disaster at an unnamed inn. We came across this hotel when we dined in the magnificent Marconis restaurant adjoining. Absolutely gorgeous food. The hotel itself has an old world charm and a really inviting cosy atmosphere. Lovely staff and equally amenable guests. Loved it. Will stay here again when visiting Clifden.

Two families stayed with children. Hotel is old world and undoubtedly faded in aspect. However, very charming, great service, great bar and amazing restaurant. Marconis is best food in clifden. All in, great value for money. Will be returning soon.
