We were recommended to The Point, and were so impressed we went back two days later. They do not take bookings, but after a drink at the bar, tables come free within 10-15 mins. There's a lovely warm welcome. Beer is good. Recommend - the hake, then go out and watch the ferry to Valentia and the sunset!

Found this place by accident when we were intending to go to Valentia Island (but I had to stop for a bathroom break). AMAZING seafood, pleasant staff, good drinks (had a Dingle gin and tonic that came with an orange slice and peppercorns in it). When we got to our B&B later, it was the first place that was recommended to us for dining. Do not miss.

In the evening it opens at 6pm, having arrived at 630pm the place was packed and buzzing already!

It was a tad cufusing to begin with and we approached the bar and asked for a table of two and they said there'd be a wait.

So we sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks, they handed us some menus and we waited whilst other people at the bar were seated.

Once we got a table, people were still coming in which shows how popular business is. The staff were attentive and prompt! Our meals came out and were delicious. I had the mixed seafood platter, hot and cold, all of it brilliant!

I would recommend booking in advance as this place is very popular, but if you're happy to reflect on your day and chat at the bar whilst waiting then it is totally worth it!

Fabulous fresh and uncomplicated seafood with a wonderful atmosphere. The quality of the seafood is amazing something almost unobtainable in the big cities.
But you need to pick your time as they don't take bookings
