We booked two rooms well in advance and when I mentioned our plans to visit Skellig Michael, Mary offered to make our reservations. This resulted in our ride to and from Skellig in Murphy's new boat with an enclosed cabin. The seas were rough and we stayed dry while all of the ten or so open boats had wet customers. We only stayed one night, but it was our best experience of our 17 nights in Ireland.

We stayed 2 nights here. My 1st time in Ireland. But my Boyfriend and his Dad had been before and really liked it.
It's the 3rd B&B so I'm starting to compare! Mary and Jim own this place and are super sweet! The rooms are nice and big!! She literally thought of everything! Tea,coffee and water in the room. 2 big chairs to sit and relax in the room. The shower had amazing pressure(not of them do!!)
The view from the breakfast room was spectacular! Breakfast was yummy- tons of choices
Thanks Mary and Jim!!

Just stayed three nights with Mary and Jim at Shealane and had a great stay. There is ample car parking in the private car park beside the property. The rooms were well appointed, in fact the whole guest house was modern, lots of wood floors, wooden ceilings in our bedroom etc. Our ensuite had a superb Mira Aqualisa shower which was powerful and hot. The beds were very comfortable and very clean. Tea/coffee facilities and bottles of water were provided too. There was a comfy guest area with a large screen tv, and the breakfast room had stunning views over the bay to Portmagee, the coast and Bray Head. My partner liked the different coloured towels in the bathroom, which she described as a stroke of genius with regard to knowing which towel was yours. The food was delicious, all cooked by Jim, with Mary looking after the guests and providing the toast/coffees etc. Breakfast was a treat, and there were good options, although the full Irish breakfast would take some beating. Locally sourced bacon, sausages and perfect eggs all added to the feeling of quality that this guest house offers. Mary was always willing to help, booking a boat prior to our visit for my partner who went up Skellig Michael to see the puffins. The boat she recommended was the only covered boat that goes to the island, invaluable when the rains start! We would not hesitate in recommending this guest house. The whole experience was lovely and we felt welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived.

We booked all 5 rooms and everyone is happy with our stay. The rooms are spotless clean, with beautiful views and linens. The dining room for breakfast has amazing view, and not to forget the delicious breakfast.

The house is well maintained and we mistakenly thought it is newly open b&b.

We had some problem in booking landing tour for Skellig Michael and Mary managed to help us reserved our tour under Skellig Walker (they have new boat). She even helped us in getting a table for our dinner as we were pretty late.

Shealane house definitely the first choice when visiting valentia island
