Stayed for the weekend in this Townhouse. Parking not many spaces but managed to find one. Couldn’t find our way in but eventually someone came to our rescue. Friendly staff rooms are secondary to the bar and food so there’s no manned reception area. Bedroom was comfy and a bit tired but ok. Bar area pleasant staff friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Dinner on the first night was fantastic we both had the fish. Second night ate in the bar very busy but unfortunately the standard was disappointing and we both were disappointed for the prices the food should be consistent. Don’t think we would stay again sorry.

Room tip: One with a balcony

Ahernes Townhouse is certainly one of the best places to stay in the area. Rooms were somewhat old-fashioned, and for some perhaps a bit dated, but a good size and comfortable enough. The highlight of a stay at Ahernes is the food, however. Dinner was absolutely excellent, with a clear emphasis on quality of ingredients, and service lovely also. The pub section is also cosy and a very pleasant place to have a drink. Charming owner/host.

We went to Aherne's for Sunday lunch. We'd been there before a few months ago, where the food was just OK, but decided to give it another go. It was a mistake. While the chowder was absolutely lovely, the steak was completely overpriced and only came with some potatoes and really greasy mushrooms and onions. My friend had the cod which was swimming in water, had a tiny bit of sauce and julienned vegetables which were hardly cooked - including celery! At almost €60 for two main courses and two soft drinks, we definitely did not get our money's worth. The staff did not seem to care too much. I live in the city and can get better food, better service and better prices - would not recommend.

We have visited Ahernes several times, and will continue to do so as we find the rooms, staff and food of the highest standard.
We are always made to feel welcome and nothing is to much trouble for this family run business

If you want to eat good fresh food, go here. We are never disappointed in the delicious crab salads here. Good quality, nicely cooked food and their own yummy home cooked bread- brown and white. It’s also a guesthouse if you wish to drink & not drive!
