Its hard to know where to start with this, after much thought and with apologies to family and friends who work here - the truth needs to be told!!

Its been a year or so since the last 3 month membership package that my wife and i signed up for, how easily you can forget how bad things are……..what i wasn’t prepared for was just how bad this place had actually become.

Its been a constant talk between every member, the state of the place, but it has to be said now for anybody even contemplating a membership here, without pulling any punches its a roaring kip, i’m sure there are underfunded Ukrainian Orphanages in better working order than this so called Leisure and Spa World tagged onto the back of this so called 4 star premium hotel……..i think there is enough said on here about the hotel so lets leave that for another day and perhaps Bob the Builder.

So having embarked on another 3 month membership i was cursing myself on Friday morning as i grappled for 15 minutes to liberate my clothes from the €1:00 locker instead of enjoying that time de-stressing in the pool, sauna, jaquizzi etc.
Taking a look around, the dirt of the place, the broken toilet seat, the wires hanging out of the wall that bizarrely has an ‘Out Of Order’ sign……its been there that long that its hard to remember exactly what was out of order, i’m told its a hairdryer. Last week there was a box beside the wires that looked like parts of a hairdryer !! A statement of intent perhaps or a cunning plan to make it look like there was progress….sadly the former is the truth.

So on a Sunday morning with at least 20 kids enjoying a swim and the pokey dressing room full to capacity i cant help wondering as i watched the kids getting changed beside the ‘out of order wires’ are they live…….could they be LIVE!!

So thats the tipping point for me, the place is minging beyond belief, at 10am on a Sunday i had to turn on the treadmill, but not only that i had to change the dust encrusted socket 3 times till i found a socket that worked. Theres clearly no ‘first thing in the morning routine’ to get things ready for the members. The gym is dusty, unhygienic, its disgusting.

The dirt in the changing rooms is beyond belief, when you get the shower turned on - it won’t turn off, the pointless soap dispenser spurts out a token molecule of soap, if you beat it wildly, you would nearly get a half a handful of soap or so i’m told.
In the ladies i’m reliably informed that things are worse still and the dirt on another level, the broken hair dryer replaced with a plug in hairdryer, plugged into an extension, along with a dehumidifier which then trails under the door and out into the hallway.

I know its understaffed, i know the staff that i have talked to are frustrated and embarrassed at this appalling disgrace of a place. This is no reflection on the Spa treatments which by all accounts are top class but whoever the management are (and you never have the bottle to reply!!!) you are a disgrace to let this place go to ruin, its an insurance claim waiting to happen now and quite frankly you deserve all you get.

If management had any sense of responsibility, any sense of pride you would publicly offer every member their money back because your nor prepared to even do the very basic of maintenance for the membership we pay!!!!

As a comparison after this mornings enlightening experience we took a quick drive to compare ‘apples for apples’ as they say. Less than 10 minutes down the road there are 2 fabulous facilities Strand Hotel and the Radisson Blu both offering a safe, clean, refreshing and uplifting experience.

When the current membership runs out we will be bringing our hard earned Euros to a facility that doesn’t take their members and staff for granted.

What Can I say............. absolutely amazing! Myself and 9 colleagues from work went for the girly get away package as our Christmas night. From start to finish it was just fab! The afternoon tea is the best I ever had and others agreed. From there we went to the spa which again was amazing and then we had dinner, the food and service was faultless!!

Both myself and my wife had our wedding reception here in December 2016. The wedding planners are exceptional at their jobs. Nothing was too much trouble for them. As some have stated aspects of the hotel need modernisation and this is underway. Our guest enjoyed their night in the beautifully decorated reception room. Everyone commented on the high standard of the food served. We stayed three nights in total and ate here every evening as the food was top notch. We are returning for our first anniversary.

Booked some Spa treatments with a friend at the Angsana Spa in this hotel which included the use of the leisure club beforehand . We decided to use the pool , jacuzzi saunas etc ... on arrival to the changeing rooms we were shocked at how dirty they were . Terrible smell of dampness & mould .. mould around the hinges on the showers & taps on sinks , the floor was dirty bottoms of the doors were rotten from dampness ..things didn't get any better in pool area ..very dated & just not clean , sauna actually had cobwebs in a corner on floor , covers on Lounging chairs very dated & tired looking . We actually cut the vist to this area short as felt so uncomfortable . We didn't have a shower as found showers also dirty . Hair dryers on walls were out of order , spare hair dryer was lying on floor plugged into an extension lead ( which also had a dehumidifier plugged into it !!!!! ) ..health & safety not a priority here .
We then proceeded to our treatment rooms. We enjoyed two hours of massage & facials , 10 out of 10 for the treatments . These girls knew what they were doing. My girl
Tarn was fabulous , best massage & facial I have every had . Into relaxation room for half hour .
I believe this is not the first complaint the management have received about the condition of the changing rooms , pool area etc . Maybe it's about time they did something about it . I will not be back to use those facilities but I will be back for spa treatments. ( the spa seems to be run by someone else , I'm open to correction on this ) "

I am tempted to give this “hotel” one star, but I expect no one would ever see it. We were appalled at the condition of the accommodations here, from the threadbare carpeting in the hallways, to the poor condition of the mattresses and linens, almost non existent lighting in the rooms, and the crowded and poorly overseen breakfast room for groups using this place. At one time, perhaps it was “kitschy”, but now it is merely poorly maintained and dismal. There is nothing nice to say about this place at all, except it is within walking distance of Bunratty Castle and Dirty Nellie’s...oh...and it’s the only hotel in town.
