We visited The Star with our two boys and we had a great time. The pub was busy which I believe to be a good thing. Best of all it was filled with individuals from the community and some working in the area. We opted to sit in the back with a great view of the valley beyond the corn field and the wind mill. We grabbed a menu from the counter as it was busy and opted to help out. One of the hostesses came out to take our order. She was great, chatted up the boys and made us all feel very welcome. The food came in a reasonable time, it was fresh, hot and well portioned. Every ate their fill and had enough to give each other a taste.

On the way out we stopped to pay the check and ended up staying to chat with a very pleasant retired gentleman that lived in Rolvenden and another working in the area. The entire pub was chatty and friendly. It was a great experience and are so happy to be staying in the village.

We will eat here again before we leave.

The only note is that the chips (fries) while hot and crispy would have been better fresh cut potatoes as I am pretty sure these were frozen. Good and hot however.

All four of us had hearty and very tasty meals - Pork Sausages (Gluten Free), Hunters Chicken, Chicken Burger and Regular Burger. With my pint of beer the entire meal was only $37.00 (GBP).

Do remember its a local pub so service is informal.

We popped in for breakfast with the first British Lions test match on the tv. A friendly welcome, great choice of breakfast items and good, strong coffee! Good sausages and black pudding in particular.

Thoroughly recommended!
