My 8-yr-old daughter and I shared a twin room the night before we flew to Canada.
It was very clean, quiet and comfortable; the staff were very helpful and friendly.
We prebooked our shuttle to Gatwick via the front desk, and it cost £5 each. The trip to the airport took about 20 minutes so it was quick and easy to get there.
The pool is in a nearby building and has odd hours on their schedule for when children are allowed to swim, so if you have kids check it out before you plan to swim - we swam anyway and no one said anything so I'm not sure how strict the "adult only" swim hours are. The changing rooms were clean and big; the towels were supplied at the pool reception for free. (The pool water itself was a bit murky but maybe that was just a one off.)
Be prepared for an expensive breakfast - only one restaurant in the hotel serves breakfast. No breakfast menu is available so you'll pay about £15 per adult for the buffet.
The wifi in the rooms is free and quite fast so for business travelers that's a bonus.
It was a bit expensive but we were very comfortable and content so in the end I'm happy we stayed at the Copthorne.More
